My experience is the rain comes and goes quickly so stay in the parks and give it a little time to see if it clears up. The bigger problem will be the crowds of course... Good Luck
Are the crowds really workable? This is our first summer trip. I have read alot of tips and have been there enough to know how to work it but Never in the summer!
Don't let the rain discourage you. Just avoid the shops at all cost during this time, everyone else has the same brilliant idea to go do some shopping while its pouring down rain. The storms seem generally short lived and the bonus of it all is that unlike many parks around the USA, wdw is relatively flat!
Our worst trip to a "theme" park was last summer to Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri. a major storm came in suddenly about 7pm, knocked out the power (not hard to do in the ozark mountains) and we were down in the childrens area of the park which is at the bottom of the park (SDC is nothing but hills). I rememeber we had to leave the park (because of the power outage) and my husband pushed the stroller with one child in it, I carried the 2 yr old and my 8yr old niece held my hand. That was no easy task with water gushing down the hill you were trying to walk up.
just a little note to help keep it all in perspective, the other bonus is that some people may actually leave the parks when the storms hit.
Due to vacation schedules, we are pretty much limited to being able to go only in June. We went in June of 2002 and 2003.
RAIN: Expect some every day. It rained almost every day, both years. Just know that it is coming and be prepared (ponchos, umbrellas) and keep a positive attitude. I mean hey, it's only water. Just keep going and remember to pack at least two pairs of shoes so you can where a pair while the other dries out.
CROWDS: They are big, but absolutely managable if you PLAN carefully and extensively. Use the internet and some guide books (I liked the "Unofficial" one the best) to set up a strategy for each park and also have a master schedule of what you are going to do each day. Use FASTPASS when possible. Finally, remember that the early bird gets to avoid some queue time! Get up early and arrive at the parks before opening and you'll be a much happier camper.
