I'm supposed to be going to Disneyland sometime next week but found out that it will be raining. Has anyone ever gone in the rain? I have friends visiting from out of state and this will be their first visit - are we just doomed to be miserable.....rides closed, parades, fireworks, Fantasmic -cancelled, soggy, wet hair & clothes.......... :(

I wouldn't say you'll be miserable, you just need to plan ahead, try to stay indoors where possible, and just enjoy yourselves. The lack of crowds will certainly help you stay out of the outdoor queues, but yes, you will most likely find some rides closed (though I don't think many close assuming there is no lightning), the parade is rumored to be non-existant at Disneyland by then, and both fireworks and Fantasmic! are cancelled during inclement weather. That said, I highly doubt it will be a non-stop rain the entire time...no worse than a summer visit to wdw, just dress warmly. Have fun!

I woudn't worry about the rain. You're still going to have lots of fun. I"d take an umbrella or plan on purchasing the ever popular poncho. And it will keep the crowd level down so that's a bonus.

Things to carry on rainy days in DL or WDW:

1. poncho
2. rain coat (if you don't have #1)
3. extra shoes - soggy tennis shoes? swap them out half way through the day with warm dry ones! Works wonder's on your attitude!
4. your good mood - only you can ruin a day in WDW or DL, just keep a great attitude about the whole thing knowing full well that you are going to get wet - and have a blast.

As stated above - the parks will be far less crowded so you'll feel like you have the park to yourself! Enjoy it! and heck, enjoy the rain!

Yup, everyone's right on with what they've mentioned so far. Crowds are very low. Last time I was at the park in the rain, I never even had to get out of the train on Screamin... until those cursed Disney DVD people showed up and I had to get back out and get in line again... *grumbles*

Aaaaanyways, if I'm not mistaken, Fantasmic has a modified version that they play during light rain. It's pretty dumbed down, but at least it's something. And as far as fireworks go, I think Believe in Holiday Magic will still run unless there is really heavy rain, or too much wind. Wind is more likely to cancel it than anything.

My bf and I always wish for rain when we go b/c no one is in the park(s) ... one time by 6pm there were only about 40 people on the Main Street Railroad with us and we were able to ride everything but the teacups ... the only downside were our wet socks.
