You get some backstage looks at the animal pens when on the train, and the area is educational - as opposed to thrilling. Back when my one daughter wanted to be a vet (like 99% of all kids at one time) we used to spend quite a lot of time out there. We saw a number of procedures done a various animals. One time we were invited back stage to tour the vet areas. We walked around with a vet tech and saw a lot of the backstage areas and treatment rooms. I found it really interesting that they build their own tubes for intubation. as the vet tech put it, you really cannot go to your local vet supply and buy a tube designed for an ostrich - you basicly have to make your own.

I don't think the area has to change at all - it is one of the few purely educational areas left in WDW -as sombody above said, it reminds me of old school EPCOT.
