Quick Questions on Staying at a Resort and Linking a friends reservation

Hey Everyone,

I need your help with a quick question.

We are staying at POR in a couple of weeks. I have a friend who purchased a 5 day ticket with Genie + to the parks but he won't be staying with us on Disney property or a friends of Disney hotel. We linked my friends tickets with our reservation so we can book Genie + rides together, but here's my question...Will we be able to book Genie + with him when the window opens for WDW resort guests at 7:00 AM (since our reservations are linked) or will he have to wait to book his rides when the park opens?

Also, will he be allowed to enter the parks with us if we arrived at the gate for resort opening or will he have to wait until regular park opening time?

Thanks!

He will have to wait until park open to book Genie+ and will not be able to enter with you at early entry for resort guests.

Actually, that's only 2/3 correct. All guests, regardless of where they're staying, can book their first Genie+ attraction at 7am. So the OP will be able to do that for their friend.

It's the Individual Lightning Lane purchases that are 7am for Disney hotel guests and park-open for everyone else.

And you're correct that the friend won't be able to do Early Entry.

Question for you all, is it legal to add this person to their room reservation?

Legal, yes. But if there are already 2 adults in the room there will be a (nightly) additional adult fee. And if the others are on a package with tickets, the friend would also need to be on the same package (obviously not cost effective!) No addition is allowed if the room is already at the occupancy limit.

Ethical, on the other hand, ????

I called Disney Reservations and they said we could add the friend to the room as a guest, but since they already purchased their own park tickets they would not be able to enter the parks early.
Now, if we cancelled his park tickets and got a refund (it was too late) we could add him to our package as long as he had the same package as us. If that makes sense.

But...we're not doing any of that because of the park reservations that have already been made.
