Questions

I have several questions about DVC and was hoping to find the answers here.

I have read that some DVC members rent their points. Is it possible to solicite members on this site or does WDWMagic not allow that on here?

If I were to rent someones points, how does that work? Do they have to inform Disney that I would be staying using their points and would Disney send something to me to confirm such a reservation?

I have been looking at the Timeshare web site for available points and was curious, do the amount of people selling points for a particular resort reflect a problem with the resort, thus their selling their points to go somewhere else? I know there can be many reasons why someone would want/need to sell, I'm wondering if so many people leaving a certain location has a more universal reason, even if it is as simple as Disney offers existing members first choice at new resorts and these members are selling to buy into a new resort.

Once in the DVC is it possible to purchase more points through Disney, and is there a minimum amount or can you buy by the point? Does purchasing additional points go on your account under the same "Purchase Year" or at the time of purchase (so to speak)?

Any help with these question is appreciated :)

See the [thread=261350]Considering Renting from a DVC Member?[/thread] thread.

People sell their points for all kinds of reasons: divorce, financial problems, selling an older resort to buy a newer one, got tired of going to Disney, etc.

The minimum add-on is 25 points if paying cash or 50 points if financing. You can buy any amount of points you want. When you add-on from Disney, the points will typically be in your same Use Year.

Another thing to consider when looking at the number of contracts up for resale at various resorts, is the resort size. The resorts vary greatly in size; BCV and VWL are single-building resorts with a fairly small number of villas, and SSR is an entire community, with many buildings in different 'neighborhoods'. So, there are many, many more SSR owners than BCV or VWL owners. Accordingly, you'll usually see a lot more SSR contracts for sale, not because SSR is a bad resort, but because there a lot more SSR contracts out there.

Thanks for the replies. After I wrote this I saw the thread on "renting". It opened my eyes quite a bit.

Renting was just a quick consideration to be able to stay at a certain property and not have to pay full price. I will have to more homework on it before I jump into anything.

Again, thanks:):)
