1.Beach chairs- What are they like? Is there a charge for them? Are they hard to get? Would it be better to buy our own at a store once we are there? Do they have umbrellas or any other type of sun cover, like beach cabanas?

2. Is there a Wal-Mart nearby, or should we go to one in Orlando on our way to Vero?

3. Any good grocery stores there?

4. Any restaurant recommendations off property?

5. I'd like to put in a request for a building...any recommendations?

Any other tips/suggestions?

Thank you! Any info would be appreciated!

Hello,
We spent 2 nights there in 2001 and had a great time.

1.Beach chairs- What are they like?
I don't remember exactly, but I think they are the chase lounger types with a clam shell cover.
Is there a charge for them?
Yes, I think.
Are they hard to get?
No
Would it be better to buy our own at a store once we are there?
No
Do they have umbrellas or any other type of sun cover, like beach cabanas?
See above.

2. Is there a Wal-Mart nearby, or should we go to one in Orlando on our way to Vero?
There is not much around. The town of Vero is a bit south and inland from where you will be. The resort is out on the causway and probably 8-10 miles away from the city. Go to maps.google.com and type in Disney Vero Beach and switch to the satellite view to get the feel of the place.

3. Any good grocery stores there?
There is not much around the resort but I am sure they can direct you to the nearest store at the front desk.

4. Any restaurant recommendations off property?
No

5. I'd like to put in a request for a building...any recommendations?
Not really, we were in the main building, which has most of the single rooms. You will find the 2-3 bedroom units in the outlying buildings and the beach houses fronting the beach.

Any other tips/suggestions?
They do a camp fire and sing along at night which is fun.
They do a manatee cruise that we heard good things about.
They also had a treasure hunt for little kids if I remember right.

Have fun.

We go to Vero Beach often and here are a few answers to your questions:

The beach chairs do have a rental cost, I believe they were about $9 a day. We didnt rent chairs, we just threw a towel on the sand and that didnt cost us anything! They do have umbrellas, but like I said, we didnt do any renting, so I'm not sure if they come with the rental of a chair.

There is a Walmart nearby, its only about a 15-20 minute drive. Along that route, there are lots of fast food places as well as a Ruby Tuesdays and a take out only Pizza Hut. There are other places that arent national chains that I'm sure are great too. I'm not sure the name of the road these places are on, I always forget, but its just over the causeway on the mainland. If you go in the opposite direction, you will eventually come to more restaurants and stores. It will seem like it takes forever, but its only about a 20-25 minute drive to get to some of the places. On our last trip, we found an Olive Garden, Applebees, Publix and lots more places that way. Just ask the front desk, but they will also give you a very simple, clear map upon checkin that will list some of these locations.

We've always stayed in the main inn, so as far as building recommendations, I don't have any of those for you! I think I would always like to be in or near the inn because its close to the pool, restaurants and beach access.

Hope this helps a little

It is really in the middle of nowhere.

A few restuarants around but nothing to speak of.

It is more of a place to relax and swim. Thats about it.

Any top floor facing the ocean.

I had the most relaxing 2 days of my life here. The best part is sitting on the beach late at night. It's so warm and the moon is so bright.....ahhhhh I love it.
