Questions for the wise ones...

I have been tasked with planning the trip for both my family and my cousin's family which is, frankly, causing me some stress. I am hoping to get some answers that I am sure are up to date and not 2001s information.

1. Will it be just one $200 deposit for the two rooms if I make it as one reservation?
2. Can we put the incidentals for the two rooms on different cards even though it's under one reservation?
3. Can we put different credit cards on different magic bands?
4. If they flake out on us can we downgrade the reservation without penalty?
5. Are the meal credits based on room or on reservation, as in all in one room grouped together or all on one reservation grouped together?

Thank you to anyone with answers for me. I feel like I know the answers but I need some other people to answer :) I know someone out there will suggest having two separate reservations but right now she can't foot the deposit so it's a no go.

1. I believe it will be $200 per room.
2. You should be able to give them different credit cards at check-in for each room.
3. I have no idea!
4. Shouldn't be a problem as long as you do it before the final payment is due at 45 days out.
5. I believe they are grouped by room.

Have a great trip!

3. I have no idea! - You sure can! Just like how you were able to do it with the room keys. You will set it all up at check in.

They will not allow to put 2 Rooms under one name. One can be in your name and one can be in you husbands name or someone 18+ of age. If your paying the deposit you could put it in you cousin name and then use your credit card for the deposit. It will not stay on the reservation for charging with the MagicBands.

Your wait time is approximately 1 minute(s) and 48 seconds. Thank you for waiting.

The thing is that each line comes up after you have waited as long as the quoted time...

We travel with my parents every trip and book 2 rooms at the same time, one in my name and one in my dad's. It's a $200 deposit per room and you can link the card used to pay the deposit to the room at the time of booking or wait until you check in to link the card. We have always used 2 different cards to link the KTTW card to the room, and the same would follow-through for the magic bands. They can cancel without impacting you. Meal credits are per room based on the people on the reservation for that room. Hope this helps!!

So- what I learned from my chat was that yes, it has to be two separate reservations which requires two separate deposits. And that does mean that any discount offers I get will only work for the one room. Frankly I am freaking out a bit. They say that they are going to pay for the trip with their tax refund. Considering the fact that that means that they will be paying us back as opposed to paying Disney I am scared to death of them canceling at the last minute. I wasn't worried about it very much if we were on one reservation because it would be a change fee not a cancelation fee ($25 I can stomache, $200 not so much or worse the whole amount!) With two separate reservations... She just doesn't have the best track record with follow through.... ACK! :(:eek::arghh::banghead::bawling::cautious::coldfeet::cry::depressed::facepalm::jawdrop:

Depends on the terms of the discount. Some specify that they are only allowed for 1 room, others may allow up to 3 rooms to be booked using the discount.

If you are concerned about changes, unless you are taking advantage of a room discount that requires a package, you can book it as a room only reservation now, only have to put down the 1 night deposit for each room, and you can cancel it as late as 5 days before the trip. Then if they give you the money, you can make the change to the package at that point. The only downside to this is that if they are unable to make the decision until within 45 days of the trip, you would have to pay the whole balance at the time you change it from a room only to a package. Does that make sense?

I think I would give them the phone number for reservations and have them book their own room with their own card. That way they can go on line and pay on it a little each month or just pay off with tax refund; but it is leaving you out of the financial mix. Always better to keep money separate if you have any concerns about things being paid off and not holding "the financial bag". That way if things do not work out for them to go they can cancel anytime before 45 days from the trip and get their money back.

I basically just said that I will be booking my reservation tomorrow or Saturday and will take care of theirs when they get the money to me. That way they are responsible for paying for themselves but I am still the one making the dinner reservations and ordering magic bands and such. If those things are left to her then, well, everyone will get grey and whatever is available as a walk up! I can't afford to pay for their trip but I also don't want her kids (my cousins but I refer to them as my nephews) to have a less than wonderful time! :)

Thanks for the thought @dreamfinder I think I will go ahead and do it as the full deposit since that is only $20 more than one night's room cost. You did make wonderful sense though!
