questions for possible trip

My family is planning a potential trip to Universal for February, March or April. Since I haven't been in about 12 years, I was wondering if people could fill me in on the best time to go. Is it worth going now since King, Hanna Barbera and Hitchock are closed? Also what do you guys think of staying on site? Is one hotel better than the other?

Thanks for your help on this. I know a lot about Disney but not much about Universal

If you go for April, Shrek or Jimmy Neutron may be open by then, but they haven't said when exactly they'd be coming. It is worth going still, they have plenty to do and plenty of shows to see. Curious George Playground will kill a couple hours alone if you want to just let loose in there (sometimes more adults than kids play in there!). As for staying on site, I would suggest RPR. It is one of the lower cost resorts, but still has all the flair of a top-notch resort.

Hi, we went last year and did Universal + Island adventure + sea world. We had a blast ! We stayed at the Portofino Bay , it is great ! You are right there with city walk in between the two and all the clubs and restaurants ! You also have early admission to the parks when you stay there. I think it's worth the money , even more if you do not rent a car ! i t is really beautiful. The Peabody Orlando is also a good place to stay and you have those walking ducks !

It's definitely worth going. just get a 2 day hopper pass and mix that with disney days. there are good attractions to see, and either jimmy neutron or shrek should hopefully be open by then.

You should probably go in April 2003 because Shrek & Jimmy Neutron opens.

It's up to you. If you like thrill rides and roller coasters than you can go soon because IOA has a bunch and Universal has a lot that are open but that's if you're into thrill rides. As for hotels, I've never been to any but Portofino Bay looks nice. I saw it on
Great Hotels on The Travel Channel.
