questions about spiderman

We went to UO last year and we are going again next year and I was wondering about how intense spiderman is? I have an inner ear problem which makes it impossible for me to tolerate intense spinning. I rode Men in Black and had balance trouble and orientation issues for about a half hour afterward. This ride looks really cool and I would like to ride it if there isn't alot of spinning. Thanks for the info.

I have come off Spiderman a little dizzy after some rides, others I've felt fine. Have someone in your party do it once and get a feel for it and make a decision then.

Spiderman is not THAT bad... the spinning is not intense like men in black, or even cat in the hat.. It's EXACTLY 2 1/2 rotations in the sewer pipe portion of the ride, and then thats it..

thanks for the replies. I don't have a major problem with the entire MIB ride, it's only in the tunnel part that really bothers me. of course we didn't have people shooting us either. I'm gonna send my husband on first and my boys and then I'll decide after I see how they react. My 9 year old loves thrill rides so maybe his advice won't be the best. I watched the video and there was only the part that looked like alot of spinning but the fall shouldn't be a problem because that stuff doesn't bother me.I guess I'll have to wait and see.It looks like so much fun that I really would hate to have to miss it.

Spiderman is such a great ride (arguably the best of its kind in the world) that it is almost worth making yourself a little sick for.

I watched some videos on youtube today and I'm curious about the fall. Did you actually go up or does it just seem like it? On the video I saw that it looks like you're falling so do they actually take you up to drop you?I have been looking up everything I can to find out about the ride system. I don't just get sick from the spinning it's also intense pain in my inner ear. I want to be able to ride so I'm really checking it out. thanks so much for all the info

There's no drop. Just simulated - neat effect though that they plussed from Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin out in Disneyland.

It is actually the one point in the ride that you feel like you are moving the most when in reality, the car you are in is at a virtual stand still. The feeling that you are really falling is enhanced by audio, lighting and wind machines.

I believe the condition that you have is actual physical motion and not a visual effect of motion? If so, then the only thing you have to be concerned about is the brief yet somewhat intense spinning segment.

Yep it is physical motion. to make a long story short i have a defect in the inner part of my ear that controls your balance so intense spinning actually causes the fluid to move quickly and then my brain goes haywire trying to compensate.not pretty. but if the drop is only simulated it's pretty convincing because on the video I really thought they were falling. I have heard it's several rotations and not just a couple? I can usually handle somewhat if it's just a couple it still hurts but it doesn't have long lasting affects . I can never ride inverted coasters .

I really didn't think MIB was bad, but if you had trouble with that, you probably will have the same or worse trouble with Spiderman. Darn, Spiderman is one of the best rides I have ever been on. Sorry to hear about that problem-good luck.

Correct, I have ridden spiderman dozens and dozens of times; so much that I decided to ride it without the glasses and look everywhere but the screens. I was astonished to see that the car comes to a stand-still for the final fall. It only lurches forward and then backward once you hit the web.

The spin is 2-3 times and is intense enough that people actually slide on the bench seats and smoosh into each other. If it only messes you up for 30 minutes, then I definitely would recommend going. Just brace yourself once you see the statue of liberty's head above you.
