Question Regarding DDP and Disney Vacation Club Points Stay.....

So I was reading somewhere that you can rent DVC points and use them to stay as certain resorts. I was also reading that when you make a reservation using DVC points, that is one of the exceptions where you can get a DDP without having a park ticket. In one of the blogs I was reading they said that they had two back to back stays. So for example, they stayed their first four nights at a Value resort and then on the final day they used DVC points to stay at a Deluxe resort. With their stay at the Value resort, they did not get a DDP but they did buy one (The Deluxe DDP) for their one night stay at the Deluxe resort. This entitled the couple and their two kids to 3 Table Service Meals each and 2 snacks each that the spread across their entire 5-day vacation at WDW. Is this possible?

No.

The DDP would only start on the day of check-in to the resort which the DDP is attached to. So they would have two days to use those credits.

No, the DDP dining plan is tied to the reservation it's purchased under. So it starts the day the DVC reservation starts. Just be aware that if you rent points, the DVC member whose points you rent will have to purchase the DDP for you, which can be done up to 48 hours before check-in.

Thanks! That's good information. So if the DDP is tied to when you check-in, does it also expire once you check-out? Or could I try and rent DVC points and put that tag that one night stay on the end of my trip instead of beginning the trip with it?

You have until midnight of the check out day of the reservation the dining plan was purchased under to use all your credits, so no. Any unused credits will be forfeited after that. However, you could add the dining to the non-DVC reservation.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Anyone can get Dining plan without buying park ticket it’s called a ticketless package. You just have to call to do it. You don’t have to rent DVC points. You can stay in any room on property booking through Disney, and add a dining plan with no tickets by calling. ;)

So if that's the case, when are those dining credits available to use? Can you purchase multiple days but use them at your leisure?

Still tied to your resort reservation. As APs, we did a ticketless package. Credits started on check in day and expired midnight of checkout day. If you're resort reservation is a 5 night stay, you'll get 5 days of DDP.
