Question re- the flag ceremony

The flag ceremony in mk is officiated by someone who is ex military i think.They come along and announce their name rank etc are these people specially invited to do this or is it a random choice.I was wondering someone asked me the other day and i didnt know.Hi I am new here by the way its a great place.

According to one book I recently read - "The Walt Disney World Trivia Book : Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic" by Louis A Mongello, veterans can request to be part of the ceremony. I guess dropping Disney and email in advace would be the best first step.

From information posted in a few recent threads on the topic, Barnum's statement sounds correct, so you'd want to check in early at the MK and see if you could be selected that day.
