Question re International Gateway entrance/Frozen

A friend recently got back from staying at the Beach Club and said that when his family entered Epcot via the Gateway at rope drop, they were required to walk the long way to Norway for Frozen. Is that standard practice? Why is that? I thought when we stay at the Boardwalk for our next visit that we would be able to make a right and go straight to Frozen and get on a short line without a FP+. Was my friend's experience an aberration? TIA

Each way is about the same distance. To be honest, I can get to Norway faster if I go through Showcase Plaza if I'm coming from the International Gateway.
Really? In my head I remember it as being much shorter to the right. Maybe I'm wrong in which case, this question isn't really significant!

When we were there last week you could make the right to get to France to the bakery. I actually didn't even notice where the rope was that they normally have to block off parts of walkway, but yes we could get to France.

When entering in the morning before 11 am you can go right but only go as far as France for the bakery, the rest of WS is blocked off.
To go to Frozen, you would have to go to the left and through UK and Canada and Showcase Plaza to Norway, which is quicker anyway.

Have fun!

I thought the France pavilion was open early for breakfast making going right very important.....
It is. You will be greeted by a CM at the rope and the will let you through if that is where you want to go.

The rope is just at the end of the France pavilion area (you can get to the all important bakery!).

Last few stays in the area, they've had one also at the beginning of the bridge from the UK to keep people going the right way too.
