Hey guys, maybe some of you can help me out. In the Orlando area, what is the best/worst county to live in for schools (elementary, and middle). Thanks for your help.

Well, being a teacher in Hillsborough County (Tampa) I can tell you that the size of the county and the area of the county you live in make a big difference. We have one of the best school districts in Florida (Hillsborough County) and are only 1 hour from Disney. I can tell you that the quality of the school will depend on where you live in the county. Orange County has some good and bad areas, as does Osceola County (Kissimmee). Remember that the larger the county, the more schools you have to choose from. In Central Florida, the largest to smallest counties are:

1. Hillsborough (Tampa)
2. Pinellas (St. Petersburg)
3. Orange (Orlando)
4. Polk (Lakeland-home of Publix) (between Tampa and Orlando)
5. Osceola (Kissimmee)
6. Lake (Haines City/US 27)

If you end up in Orange County (most of WDW), try for Winter Park and Windermere zoned schools

Thanks guys, I was just wanting to know where to start looking when I move to the area. It is overwhelming! and my kids are 13 and 10 years old. I wanted an affordable and decent school district to look into. Thanks for your info!
