Question for first time visitors

I have a question for people who have recently been to WDW for this first time. What was your take on the lack of Mickey?

Aside from character dining he really isn't used/seen that much in the parks. At the end in some of the parades, Philharmagic, Fantasmic (really the only time he is the main character), and the obvious meet and greets. Thee is also something in AK that I can't remember. But for a company that 'started with a mouse', I've always thought he was a little overlooked in the parks.

So for your first time were you expecting to see more of Mickey? Did it bother you that he wasn't there a lot, or was it not that big of a deal. I guess the question could go for season veterans too, do you want to see more of Mickey or is there enough of him?

*Im sure there are other things Im missing with Mickey in them, but not many.

It really doesn't bother me much but I guess I could see why it would others. We have a friend who went to Disney several years ago and didn't really enjoy it. He said that he paid Mickey all that money and never saw him, not even once.
For us though, we stand in lines to take our picture with the Big Cheese and we don't mind.

i'm not a first timer but as a frequent wdw goer i can say he's actually seen more in the park than in years past. i think it's in part because of shows like mickey mouse club house and similar shows that have breathed new life into mickey. when my kids were growing up they didn't do the meet and greets like they do now, you had to catch them as they went through the park (stampede mentality) and there wasn't much of mickey mouse on tv. my granddaughter probably knows him best because of watching mickey mouse club house. i also think mickey is more prevalent than people think...just look up from your park map and look for your hidden mickeys and you realize he's there more than you think.

Your can't have Mickey sightings continously. It would spoil it. Imagine walking from main street to adventure land passing Mickey at Main st and when you arrive in Adventure land seeing him again wearing a different outfit.

I didn't necessarily mean THE Mickey. Obviouslt he can't be two places at once, there is only one of him ;) I meant that he isn't featured in many rides or attractions.

My first trip to WDW was in 1985 and even back then, it felt like there was a lack of Mickey. Back then, we didn't know to look for hidden Mickeys and it really didn't feel like there was as much mouse ear merchandise and treats as there are today. And aside from the MK parade, we didn't even see Mickey until we ventured over to Epcot on day 3. So...that being said, I think there's more Mickey today.

having philharmagic and toon town was a big improvement at mk for showing mickey/minnie/donald/goofy characters and mickey mouse playhouse at dhs helps some. a lot more than when i was a kid.

I agree. If a stage show in front of the castle 6 times a day, or a tent right next to his house, or a 3D movie, and a parade aren't enough (in one park) then what more can be done?

No Mickey is fine in the parks. My wife and I got our picture taken with him and Mickey and waited a half hour to do so. There was his house in Toontown (although I am not sure what will happen to it now). There is Philharmagic, there are the hidden mickeys, there are the visible Mickeys too, there are the Mickey ears, etc.

Could there be a ride dedicated to him? Maybe, but even when the park first opened the Mickey Mouse Revue featured several park icons.

Mickey is important, but overall there is Donald, Goofy, Minnie, Daisy, and then classic movie characters in Snow White, Peter Pan, Cinderella etc. There are so many characters that helped keep Disney afloat. And it isn't as if Mickey isn't prevelant in the parks. No one has seen Spectromagic?
