Question - Florida Drinking water

Hi All,

got another question for you, hope you can help, bit of a silly one, but i've been wondering...

I'm going to WDW for the first time ever in 6 weeks (SOOOOO excited!!) and have been thinking about drinks.

I know that there are water fountains around the world, but i've read that Florida water tastes a little funny (can't be any worse than the horrible water here in yorkshire, England!) but i've bought a water filtration bottle and wondered if you thought that would work?

I've been to Disneyland Paris and have never drank the water in france because it upsets my stomach. Have any Brits had the same experience in Florida?

I'm planning on bringing some squash or cordial to put in it too as i don't really like to drink plain water.

looking forward to your replies!

I've never had a problem with Florida water (I'm from England). Straight out of the tap it isnt the world's best tasting, but certainly no worse than typical English tap water.

I would start slowly with it when you get there, and see how you go.

Have a great trip! and welcome to WDWMAGIC!

We have been twice & both occasions only drank bottled water...I am also from Yorkshire & agree the waters not great, but it's not brill in Florida, I would suggest either only drink bottled water or filter it first.Hope you have a great time, you'll be addicted after your first trip, we were!!! :ROFLOL:

Heading for the great escape.
Disney water is bloody awful tend to buy the big containers for the fridge and stick to bottles when out. Or better still frozen with margaritta.

I visit Florida a lot as I have family there and I drink the tap water. It has a sulfur taste (in some areas it's worse than others), but it is treated and should not make anybody sick. Everybody here drinks bottled water so you will fit right in!

many people use mix sticks to flavor the water and they come in all sorts of flavors from basic juices to iced teas to Gatorade and other sports drinks, it's usually one stick to one 16oz bottle of water.

they sound cool, we've nothing like that over here (i've never seen any anyway). Can you buy those in or near WDW? we've not got a car for most of the holiday so can't go too far.

thank you

Good to hear your going to drink lots of water but sunscreen is a must too, it will be hot when you go & its very easy with the excitement to forget to keep re applying, especially if you have kids, its always the first thing in the back pack before we leave for the parks. :sohappy:

Hee, thanks.

I've got my Factor 50 ready to go as i'm paler than Snow White!

also, got a cool Piz Buin Suncream bangle from Home Bargains, don't know if you've got one of them near you? It's a thick-ish gold coloured Bangle which is hollow and is at the moment filled with Factor 20, got a little flip top lid on the end and you basically just squidge a bit out as needed. Thought i would fill it with my F50 every day and every time i catch sight of it on my wrist, it would remind me to put a bit more on my bare bits, so to speak!

was only 99p, thought it was a great idea!

So excited I can't sit still!!! All I watch is Disney, all I listen to is Disney and all i think about is Disney! Never been to America at all before and never been on such a long flight before ( :lookaroun not a very good flyer ) ! I think my excitement is only going to get worse (or better!) as the day gets closer!

yep, we did those a month or so ago, got our approvals so that's good. Not actually got a physical certificate or anything, just got our approval codes, is that right?

I haven't been since they introduced the new ESTA system...but a travel agent friend told me to print off the code they give you & take it with you. A word of warning immigration when you get to Florida is tough....expect to queue for a while & they sometimes can be very rude...but it's just their job, don't be intimidated by it...or worry about it, just make sure you have all your relevent papers to hand when you get in there & if you have small children keep them under control or they will be shouted at.

scary biscuits!

thanks for the warning! we've not got kids, but i'll heed the warning and be on best behaviour!

when we went to DLRP at Christmas last year, we were stuck in a massive queue at about 11.30pm to get back through passport control in Manchester. The guy behind the desk took ages over my passport, then asked where we'd just come from. I was so tired, I completely forgot where we'd just been! stood there stammering, going 'errr...'. How much more potentially guilty could i possibly have looked!!

I am sure its in their job description to make you feel guilty though you've nothing to be guilty of....they are really bad at Leeds Bradford airport too & very slow. The worst thing about immigration in Florida is just the waiting in queue when you've been on the plane for the best part of 9 hours, jet lagged, hungry & desperate for some sleep & your waiting there for what feels like an eternity. Last time we went it was a flight that landed quite late & we got through fairly quickly, but the first time was a mid day flight & it was heaving, screaming kids & fraught parents...but it has to be done & believe me when you walk into Disney all that melts away!!

thank you

I did see them in some of the stores in the resorts last time we were there, but I brought my own from home.

There are grocery & drug stores close to WDW and they will carry them, usually in with the powdered drinks/teas section.
