question about using a discount pin

Hello all! First time using this board, please be gentle on me. My question is I am looking to book a 6 night disney vacation at a moderate property (port orleans) for mid- August and my PIN code is good for 30 percent off for a moderate room. What if Disney offerers a Free Dining Plan or a better offer between the time I book and August?
In other words could I get a credit back for the difference of the better deal? I want to book my meal plan this week since I am getting close to my 180 day window. I am from Canada and the last 2 Augusts we were able to get the free regular dining plan!
thanks

There should be no issue with re-booking under the better deal. If I am not mistaken they would cancel the existing reservation and re-book you under a new reservation number. You just would need to make sure that they transfer your ADR's (advance dining reservations) to the new booking. If you booked through a WDW travel agent this should be no big deal whatsoever but if you did it yourself then make sure to get every bit of confirmation you can regarding transfer of ADR's. Save any and all emails and make sure to document everything. Technically it is really no big deal to do and folks do it all the time but you just want to make sure and cover your butt;)

The general rule of thumb is to take whatever discount is available first and then re-book if something better comes out.

The only issue you might have with re-booking is availability. Just because and offer comes out does not guarantee that it will be available at your resort and for your dates. If it is, switching is not a problem. If you are booking yourself simply call Disney and they will change the reservation. You conformation number will remain the same and if there is a refund due it will be applied to your credit card. The refund process, typically takes a few days, but can take up to 2 months to show up on your credit card statement (this depends on the CC company).

If you have booked with a TA, get in touch with them and they should make the change.

Changing to a better deal is not a problem, but sometimes they must refund all you paid on the first reservation and make you a new one on the new deal. This requires a new deposit at time of booking and they will not apply what you already paid, but refund you in a few days.

This typically happens when you switch from a room only to a package or vise versa. If you go from a package to discounted package or room only to discounted room only you will not have to deal with a cancellation, refund and re-booking.
