Question about use of complimentary tickets.

Hello all! I was doing a yahoo search for the answer to this question and ended up finding this forum. Looks like a great place. I thought maybe you guys could help me out with the answer to this question.

I have 4 Disney complimentary park hopper tickets that we received last year. They have my first and last name on all 4 tickets. I was planning to use them on our trip this November but they are only 3 day tickets and we will be there for 10. They can not be upgraded once we get there to the 10 day tickets and we really would like more than 3 days of park tickets.

So after much thought I had decided to sell them so I could buy 10 day tickets instead. We don't need park hoppers so I noticed the tickets would sell for enough to just about pay for the 10 day tickets we would like to get.

I would like to get them listed on ebay but I really want to make sure first that the person who buys them can use them. I would never sell somebody something they could not actually use. I see people sell tickets all the time on ebay but I did not know since these were complimentary and had my name on them if that would be a problem. I assumed it would not be since it is my name on all 4 and obviously my dh and kids would be using 3 of them.

Anyways, sorry to ramble on. I was just curious to see if anyone had any idea on how that would work out.

Thanks so much!

why not just buy (4) 6 day park tickets without the park hopper then ?

If I sell the 3 day hoppers it will give me just about enough to pay for the 10 day tickets, only having to come up with $100 out of pocket. If I just go and buy 4 more 6 day tickets then that is a very large amount of money out of pocket. Since we do not need 3 day hoppers (we don't hop) and we are staying much longer than planned the 10 day tickets are what works best for us. After you pass that 3rd day you don't pay much more for each additional day so we would like to be able to buy the 10 day tickets with the money from the 3 day ones. :)

It depends on if they actually say they are complimentary on the the tickets. If so they can not be upgraded because the have no value. I tried with the one-day ticket that came with my D23 anniversary event package. I gave it to a friend from WDWMagic instead.

You just answered your own question right there... Most of the time, these types of tickets include disclaimers, such as "Non-transferrable" or "Not for resale". So, you may sell your tickets to some poor, unwitting schmuck who might try to use them, and they just might happen to ask the person holding the tickets to see YOUR id... Just because people sell things on Ebay doesn't make it right, or legal, for that matter. You might end up getting sued or criminally charged for fraud.
