Hi all. I was browsing online and I came across a few photos of the Magic Kingdom entrance. Right infront of the flower garden area. In these photos there is a whole bunch of Mickey Mouse Statues. There is one of him like a lobster or something...another he is holding a birthday cake. I was just wondering what event this is from? It looks so cool and interesting. Does anyone know? Thank you!

Sounds like it could have been some of the 75 years of Mickey statues (there was a better name for them) that were created in 2003. They were on display in groups at WDW and around the country for a while in 2003-4.

Oh thank you so much! I was wondering what it was all about. Too bad I missed it but at least now I know. Do you know if they on display somewhere now?

The official name was "75 InspEARations." Each statue was decorated by a celebrity or a specific part of the Walt Disney Company. At the end of the exhibition, they were auctioned off for charity, and most are now in the hands of individual collectors or buisnesses.

Here's a full list of the statues created for the exhibition: http://www.wdwmagic.com/inspearations.htm

Somewhat recently, I was in line at a Company D store, and the CM in front of me claimed to own one of the statues (there had been a discussion about the miniatures of them available in the store). I don't remember which one specifically...I think, perhaps, the TRON one.

It sure would have been nice to see. I didnt realize the size of them. In the photos at first they only likes like they were maybe 3 feet tall. I was surprized by the actual size. Thanks:) everyone!

They were very cute! I have photos somewhere of them out front of MK. I would post pix, but they are from back in the day of 35 mm film.
