Question about ROTM

Well, this is more like a question about all indoor coasters, but mainly about ROTM. I've noticed that all indoor coasters' effects are either done with projections (SM,) or with flat paintings illuminated when you go past them (RNR, ROTM.) I've been wondering why they never have anything more complex. I figure not in SM because it's so old, and RNR because it's so cramped in the building, and they couldn't fit anything else in. ROTM, though, I'm wondering about. I don't think that the coaster part is really cramped up, and they have the ability, yet it was simply paintings illuminated by blacklights. Do they not put animatronics because it's going so fast, and people wouldn't see them, so they don't spend the money? Do they have some sort of regulation? Or do they really have not enough room?

One of the biggest in the country...

I understand what your are saying...The blacklight cutouts are very effective though. AA's would of cost millions more, and have pretty much the same effect.

I would of rather had a straightaway portion (similiar to Hollywood's) in which a temple wall is on each side of the coaster track, with Mummy hands trying to grab you.

The floating hill though, is just awesome.

I'm sure I did. There is one moment during the first coaster part that gives great airtime. Then there are 2 other parts that do the same.

The reason for cheap cut-outs is because the guest will only see this for about 2 seconds before passing by. But this is for the newer attractions like RnRC and ROTM. Space Mountain is like what it is because there really wasn't anything better for the effects in 1975. If you go on the Paris one though, everything is in full 3D and detail.

The first time I rode ROTM was during the technical rehersal, when wasn't finished yet. I wasn't really impressed by the "cut-out" mummies in the coaster section. But now, with the better lighting and the strobing effect on the cut outs, it looks really cool, and I think it's really effective. IMO, animatronics would be a waste of money in a place like that since you would go by them so fast.

BTW, I LOVE ROTM. My friend and I rode it 9 times in one day a couple weeks ago. It's my new favorite attraction.
