Question about Resort Pools

Hi all. When my family and I were at All Star Movies in May, we used the pool one night. While in it, a father and son were throwing a tennis ball back and forth. We had to keep dodging it, as tennis balls are hard and would have really hurt my son had it hit him in the head.

So, my question is: Are you allowed to play catch with balls in the pools? I know you are not allowed to use floats.

Just wanted to know for future reference.

Thanks to all.

Provided they are not an obstruction or harm to other guests. In this case it sounds like it was. However you say 'one night'. There are not lifeguards on duty at night and therefore no one to enforce those rules.

Right. I have seen lifeguards ask kids not to play catch during the day when the pools are crowded, but usually at night there are some kids (and adults) playing catch with Nerf balls or the like. I've been at the WL when the lifeguards coordinate games for the kids, but the try to keep them all at one end of the pool away from those not playing.

I guess you're right about no lifeguard. But, still tennis balls are too hard and should never be allowed to be played with in a pool. At least nerf balls are softer..

BTW: I noticed my thread was moved. Where was it moved to? I figured this was just general discussion, since it was not breaking news and not anything related to trip planning. I am just curious.

Thanks

I was at the Yacht and Beach Club pool recently in the heat of the afternoon. Kids were throwing all kinds of things. I will be honest, I wanted to play too, even thought I'm 30.

Instead of making a big deal out of it, the lifeguards called all the kids over to a specific area and started a huge game of water volleyball with a gigantic ball. They also played water basketball too.

It was nice of them to do this, because a lot of people wanted to play, but weren't involved with the games of catch. This also allowed people like my wife a chance to enjoy the pool without the kids going crazy and splashing her.

There is no accounting for someone else's common sense, unfortunately. I guarantee you that they thought it perfectly okay and would have looked at you sideways, if you told them it was unsafe.

I've also seen those soft water balls for the pool which are great.
