Question about Pixar films

What films did TWDC do more than just distribute Pixar films? In the films that they did do more than just distribute, what was their role?

I could be wrong about this, but as far as I know, Disney has had little to no input on the movies created by Pixar. They market and distribute them, but John Lasseter and the gang control what goes in and comes out of each film. The only exception I know of is "Toy Story 3," which Disney decided to put into production on their own, back when the two companies were going to go their separate ways. When John became the head honcho of Disney animation, the project was either killed, or just halted until something he liked could be put together.

Update: I was just looking at IMDB, and they're saying the movie is back on...however, they're also saying John Lasseter wrote it and is directing it...I'm not sure what is accurate, now. I had heard Pixar originally had nothing to do with it...

The Walt Disney company has always owned all of the Pixar films from the start. They now own the entire Pixar company as well.

I just hope that Disney does not change the Pixar style too much. I way prefer the Pixar movies over Disney movies, the humor is fantastic and there is NO singing. That is the only thing I really hate about Disney movies. As soon as the songs start, we all roll our eyes and fast forward through it. I wonder if they are going to call it PIX-EY now or maybe DIX-AR, lol!!!

originally, Pixar had first refusal rights, and Disney was actually trying to get Pixar involved, but they wanted nothing to do with it. then there was the whole Circle 7 debacle. then Eisner left, and you know the rest

Toy Story 3 was almost more of a political bargaining chip than anything else, there's a theory that Disney never had any real plans to make it. i have no doubt that will be made eventually in Disney's current corporate climate, but at least now, Lassetter can make sure that the right people will be on it, or even better, keep it at Pixar.

I would doubt the style would change since Lassetter is in charge of the Studio.

:( i LOVE the musical aspect. I miss the days of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, etc. They all had characters singing and original scores. Although i like most of the newer disney movies that have come out, I feel they are still lacking. Yes, there is an original score but all of the music with vocals is stuff from the radio, no more characters singing songs fit just for that movie. And the big chorus finale at the end of the movies is gone now. I hope that soon we can get a 2D, musical, fairy-tale disney movie once again.

How can you watch a Disney movie and not expect singing? Their best films are their musicals. Now, when I see the output of certain other studios, and a character breaks out into song, it often does make me cringe. The quality is rarely there, the melody is awful, and the lyrics are atrocious (not that Disney hasn't had a few clunkers, but I would say those are just the direct-to-video movies, not the theatrical ones).
Personally, I can't separate Disney from musical numbers. I actually expect it, and am actually a bit disappointed when the numbers aren't there. I'm hoping "Rapunzel" will be a return to that form, though I guess we'll have to wait until about 2009 for that one.

Just like people are saying, Disney only handled the business aspect of the Pixar films.

Disney just helped with marketing and all that good stuff. But thats all going to change, muahahahaha.....

Actually its not really gonna change, but now that Pixar is technically apart of Disney we can say Disney does it all!

Pixar will still make all its films like it always has, by themselves...but now it has the permanent disney name.
