Just a quick one. Does anyone remember a ride called Rocket Rods in Tomorrowland at Disneyland? And do you know why it was closed down so quickly. I know it was unreliable, but it was a cracking ride..

Thanks..

I believe they converted the People Mover track to a Test Track style track for EMV's. But unlike TT, RR's curves weren't banked so they either had to slow it down way to much, or wear out the suspension on the cars. Plus, i think it threw you painfully to the side ala a "Wild Mouse" coaster when riders weren't expecting it, so they got a lot of complaints.

No real side slamming. It would speed up on the straight aways.. and slow down for the curvs. It was kinda cool. I do miss TRON though. Why did WDW never get the tron.. it seems really cheap and easy.

I always enjoyed it, however I never actually waited to board it so I might feel differently. One of the many problems with it is if the station didn't dispatch on the green light, it would cause back ups all throughout the track. This took what little thrill there was away. A friend of mine who used to work in City Hall said they got far few complaints about the ride closing than they ever did when it operated. Also, it wasn't nearly as productive (meaning number of guests per hour) as most e-ticket level attractions.

I'd love to see them bring in a more high-tech version of the PeopleMaker. I mean PeopleMover.
