To one and all

what does the character audition consist of? i have heard it is a short dance, then use of exagerated movements to mime something. I have no experience of dancing and acting what so ever so what are the chances of me being selected? How many people usually attend an audition at WDW and what percentage usually go through? how long would it be from auditioning till you find out you have the job? How long between finding out you have the job and actually starting the job/training/traditions? How long is training for a fur character?

thanks

Well here's basically what happens..now before anybody bashes me for helping.i'll go ahead and say it..I'm not a character..lol...But I know a good deal of details about it..

First you need to call Disney Casting to set-up an interview..(407) 828-1000, they will then set-up an interview for you to come in, and get information on you. They will then give you a form to come back on the following, or that Thursday for an audition. The audition is based on movement, and animation. Basically they teach you a dance, and you do it. They also show you how to animate and get stories across with no talking but just movements and actions. I'm not sure about the percentage, just whatever Disney is looking for/needs. If you pass your either given a position or you are placed in the "Character Pool". Basically the "Character Pool" is a waiting list, and your just waiting for a spot. The training for characters is 5 days, and Traditions is 1. Hope all goes well.

It's all about height, if you're in a very needed height range they'll take you even if you don't know your left from your right and hop around in the movement portion like a fool. The dancing really isn't that important, they like for you to be able to dance and it improves your chances of being in parades and shows, but if you can't dance, no worries.

Lord knows I can't dance. it was my animation and puppetry that got me in the door.

The only parade I could do was DSMC and that was after being disaproved in it. Thats because I got trained in bear later. and all he does is sit ina car and wave. But you had to spend two days getting use to all the equipment you have to put on and how to use the puppet properly. So there are many options. Just go for it.

Thanks for this. Anyone know what its like to play tigger? is it a hard costume to work in, as i think i am tigger height.

To clarify, do i need to go to an interview at Casting before i go to an audition? If i fail the audition how long after will they tell me and when can i then apply for another non-audition job at wdw?

You need to call Casting to set up an interview, and then you will be invited to attend an audition. Usually during the interview they ask you if you dont pass the audition if you'd be interested in another role. If you fail the audition, they contact you again, and ask if your still interested in another role.

My brother is friends with Tigger, and said starting out that it was pretty tough with his hands and seeing out of the mask.

i really need to know the timelines involved. I probably wont be coming down till may or june time, so hopefully they will need more people.
So if i attend an interview on tuesday and get through, would i make it to the audition on Thursday or would i have to wait another week?
How long is the gap between auditioning and starting training?
If i get put into the character pool wil i be able to interview for another role?

thanks so much

Like people have told me..lol..it depends on what they need..The summer is always busy, so they probablly already have too many people trained. And I believe that if you pass the audition, and they offer you a role..I think it's like 2 weeks after starts the training..maybe...any info?

I actually have my interview on tuesday...i'm trying again!! lol....I feel lucky this time! :)
