If you bring your car with you down to Florida, do you have to get new plates and a new license? Or even take a road test?

I think if you are seeking residency then yes, but i know out of state people who went to college in Florida and never changed their tags for 4 years. I would say no as long as your not trying to become a resident of Florida

I brought mine, and I would highly recommend it!! You get to do a lot more and see a lot more that you wouldn't usually see when having to rely on others or the bus timeguide.

As for the plates/license, Florida has a law that allows students enrolled in higher learning to participate and live up to 6 months in the state with out-of-state tags. I'm not sure if the statute is still on www.disneycollegeprogram.com or not, but it recommends that you print it out and keep it in your glove box with your registration and insurance just incase you were to be pulled over for any reason.

You shouldn't get bothered in Florida for out of state (or out of country) plates. We have too many tourists in the state for the police to bother checking every car without Florida plates.

In fact,

This is a neighbors car of mine in South Florida, which has been in the US (illegally) on French Registration for at least 2 years without incident. If he isn't getting grief, you won't.

I didn't. Plus I believe for college purposes you do not need to change it anyways, even if it's 4 years.

520/Beeline is between Cocoa and Orlando... he should look into the Autotrain if he doesnt wanna drive it... it goes from like DC area to south of jville

520 is fine... they have put a median up finally although its only metal its better than nothin. my bro-in-law had a cross over there and broke his neck...

if you're driving from Ohio, I presume you'll be taking 75 down. 75 Southbound - Florida's Turnpike Southbound - 4 Westbound will get you to WDW. Watch out for traffic in Atlanta- it can get nasty.

The Autotrain goes from Lorton, VA (next to DC) - Sanford, FL (next to Orlando).

The 528 Beeline (aka- Beachline) is the Toll Road that goes from Orlando to Cocoa Beach. On a good day, it should take you less than 45 minutes to complete the drive from A-B. On an EXTREMELY, HORRIFICALLY bad day, 90 minutes. The 520 is a local road the runs the same route, but will take you considerably longer.

I was just going to mention that. On my way out to Valencia's east campus, I noticed that all the "beeline" signs are now changed to the "Beachline"

I can vouch for atlanta. but here in florida i have found that people are so in a hurry and trying to figure out where they are going (tourists) that you really have to defensivly drive. Thats why i don't drive if i don't have to.

But having a car is nice. epecialy when you are working those late nights at Magic Kingdome and have to wait for the 4th bus becuase the other 3 filled up before you coudl get on.

You could bring it and only drive when you felt like it, I did this summer> i took the bus to the parks when I wanted to play but when I went to work I drove my car.
