Last night I visited the Queen Mary Dark Harbor. It is a county fair with five haunted mazes. Three of the mazes are on ship. They are atmospheric and rely on a lot of Spirit Halloween AA monsters and tight corridors. The live monsters do interact with you and follow you around. The mazes are very long as you walk though the inner areas of the ship. I felt a little sad for the condition of the ship. I don't remember it looking this bad when I did the regular tours.
There are two outdoor mazes full of huge props. I enjoyed how they weave inside the tents and outside. There is a lot to look at. The monsters will stop, interact and pose for pictures in the mazes. They even make up their own backstories. Still at times, it feels like a ton of junk laying around as a maze.
There are a number of county fair booths and a stage with DJ for people to dance to. There is a hookah bar and a lot of alcohol bars. There are a few shows like a dead drag queen comedian and slider show. The circus section has four flat rides. The rides are $10 each and the bars are really expensive. There are a few hidden bars inside the mazes but you need to visit the fortune teller to find out were and to get the tokens to enter. There is an observation longue for an additional fee with a bar.
The lines were really short for a Wednesday night. It was relaxing but feels very low rent compared to Knotts and Universal. Its not really a family friendly event since sections had the smell of pot and vape in the air. The mazes are gory but nothing a teenager couldn't handle. It was well patrolled by the Long Beach police. The restrooms were very stinky port-a-potties but the inside ship restrooms were open. It was fun but not something to every year unless you are there to party.
