QS Breakfast - bad deal, right?

While checking out some menus of QS restaurants, I am having a hard time finding a breakfast worth a dining credit. No? I am basing this on an "average" cost of $15 for a QS credit. Easy to spend that much on lunch/dinner - but difficult for breakfast.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Seems like all dining credits are best spent on dinner, and a few on lunch.

You are correct and it is pretty much true for TS as well.

When you are looking for bang for your buck on the DDP it is snack credits for breakfast, QS for lunch and TS for dinner.

For value maximization, breakfast is a snack credit, married with a dessert you didn't eat from a QS meal the previous day, lunch is a QS credit, and dinner is TS.

However, different things apply for convenience and other reasons. For example, on a recent trip, my family found the following to be helpful to our trip enjoyment, even if it didn't maximize "value" compared to cash price:

4 of us would use 2 QS credits at breakfast at the resort. The breakfasts were generally way more than any of us would normally eat for breakfast, so this worked fine -- a couple days, we supplemented with a snack. The drinks would be bottled drinks that would come with us to the parks so that we wouldn't use snack credits on drinks.

We often used TS at lunch because it was easier to get ressies for places we liked. This was particularly true as we changed up our plans from time to time on the go, and we were there during Xmas/New Years, so everything was pretty crowded. This led to QS at dinner, which was also a plus when in the parks, as the QS places are much less crowded at dinner.

Only time breakfast is worth using a credit is if you are using it for a Table Service credit. For a QS, not so much at all. You're better off using a snack credit for cereal, pastry etc. or just paying out of pocket which is what I did most of the time if I wanted a larger meal for breakfast.

The majority of the time we will pay cash for a quist breakfast sandwich or waffle at the hotel and use the snack credit for a Juice or just use the refillable mug if we want tea or soda. Breakfast is by far the cheapest meal. The only way I would use a QS credit on breakfast would be if I only had a day or two left of the trip and I had an overage of credits left to use.

We use a quick serve for breakfast and split it and a quick serve for dinner and split it. We typically use our table service for lunch as the wife and I dislike the large meal in the evening. We also have our children who don't ever eat a full meal at Disney so we typically end up nibbling on what they don't eat also at dinner. Works for us but obviously not everyone. In the past we have brought instant oatmeal and used hot water from the food court or the in room coffee maker.

I agree with what everyone has already said. I typically use a snack credit for breakfast most days and a QS credit every third day or so.

If you are looking though to use a QS breakfast from time to time, there are a couple of noteworthy places to consider:

1. I know it seems weird but one of the freshest and tastiest breakfasts I have found on property comes from Pizzafari in AK. And almost nobody stops for breakfast here so there's no crowds to contend with. I know the menu looks like every other place but it is quite consistent. I like the spinach and goat cheese frittata and the kid's platter is actually quite a good size if you aren't starving.

2. Tonga Toast at Captian Cook's at the Polynesian

3. Breakfast Panini at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.

4. Breakfast Sandwiches and Omelettes from Earl of Sandwich in DTD.

5. Belgian Waffles and almost anything else from Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD.

6. Breakfast Bread Bowl at Boardwalk Bakery. I don't really like biscuits and gravy but, if you do, they have that there too.

7. Mara in Animal Kingdom Lodge has an African breakfast platter.

And good uses of snack credits at breakfast include:

1. A smoothie at the Main Street Bakery (and probably other Starbucks locations).

2. Baked goods almost anywhere like chocolate croissants, cinnamon rolls, and bagels with cream cheese.

3. Bacon and Cheese Roll, Apple Turnover and a number of other items at the Bakery in France.

4. Fruit or Trail Mix from Liberty Square Market in MK.

5. Various Muffins and Carrot Cake Cookie at Writer's Stop in DHS.

6. Beignets from Port Orleans French Quarter food court.

The only time we use a quick serve credit for breakfast is on the day we leave. By the end of our stay we usually Have enough credits left to get a breakfast before we leave. Works out fine. Use a snack credit to get a pastry or muffin usually large enough to satisfy a youngster.

I'm gonna chime in and agree with Wolfgang Puck Express for breakfast. Definitely not the best deal for a QS but me if you decide to do it once it's super yummy. The breakfast pizza is easily enough for two people. Share the other QS later on a big lunch/dinner - maybe a chicken and rib combo?

We always bring breakfast items (cereal & milk, doughnuts, etc...) and eat a quick meal in the room before heading out to the parks. It frees up your dining credits for a lunch/dinner or a really good snack, which is a much better use of dining credits.
