put stroller carriers on the back of the buses

does anyone feel the way i do about strollers on buses? it's not that they irritate me or anything, but i really think disney shold invest in building some sort of container or box on the back on the buses just for strollers. the little umbrela strollers are not that bad, but have you ever had the misfortune of having someone with the giant oversized stroller that hardly fits in the back of a mini van try to squeeze it past you either in the early morning or late evening when the buses are so packed? we have two kids and we decided that instead of going through the hassel of lugging ours around and bothering others, that we bought the multi-day stroller passes. think of how great it would be if there was a big metal or plastic bin on the back of the bus and all you had to do was toss in there and don't worry about it anymore. makes more room in the bus and loading and unloading would be so much more quicker. i saw a family of three have to wait for another bus just because this guy had a stroller with what looked like bicycle tires on it. and he only had one child. i understand the bigger ones for people who have twins, triplets, or small kids close in age. just an idea.

Yeah, we too have gone the multiday rental. I wish they made it a better deal. I do agree with you, there has to be something they could do to make it better. Our public transport here has big racks in the front for bikes so they can attach something.

If they can invent lawn chairs that fold into a small bundle and fit into a back pack, yould think someone could do the same thing for a stroller.

I advise all my friends who have small children to take the umbrella strollers when going to Disney World.

I realize they don't have the storage space and sometimes Umbrella strollers aren't an option, but you can certainly avoid alot of hassles, dirty looks, and carrying, breaking down, and storing hassles if you can use an umbrella stroller.

Yeah, the City Buses here also have the bike racks on the front. I don't think they could put a similar device on the backs since the engine is there and the whole back is an exhaust louver - a tad warm. Good idea though.

If I ever had kids, and I ever have a serious brain fart and take them before they can walk a day on their own (not gonna happen here), I'd resort to one of those Baby Backpacks if they're that young. And if they're toddlers (many of whom ride in strollers that really shouldn't), we'll just take lots of breaks. I will NEVER, EVER push a stroller around WDW. The hassle of keeping track of it. Standing in line with a thousand other annoyed parents to rent them. Packing them on transportation. No thanks! When junior can walk for a day, he can go to WDW - or we just take lots of breaks, as needed.

Perhaps Disney should have a policy of no strollers on buses and then have minimal rental charges in the parks. Or even free strollers to on site guests to encourage folks not to clog up the very limited space on buses.

Ok, as someone who has been on 6 trips with kids (many of them more then one kid, this past March we had 4 kids age 4 and under with 6 adults.) I know what I am talking about and belive me I have put more thought and effort into this then most people. I have been to WDW twice with a double and once where we had 2 double strollers on the trip. (my friends was a full size graco one.) It worked fine for them, but if we had been at a value or moderate resort were the busses are very full it would of been a bigger prolbem then Y&B club resort.

While I agree it would be nice for something to be done about the stroller, a place to put them reall wouldn't work. You can be in the front of the bus, your stroller in the back and 50 people packed in between you and it when you have to get off. And what if your stroller is on the bottom under 20 others? These busses don't just make one stop. It can be hard enough to get off as it is (and not let your young kids get seperated from you.)

They do make smaller strollers. Belive me, strollers are a big market. Did you know some cost close to a 1,000 now a days? I don't see the need to spend that much, but good ones often cost 200 to 300 dollars. (they do end up paying for themselves compared to rentals.)

We always invest in small strollers with good shade, snack bars, cup holders and stroage. Also important they recline for naps (it will happen.) Umbrella strollers are very umcomfotable and most pedatristions don't recomend using them for long times. Some of the more expensive ones do, and if you are going to use an umbrella stroller invest in one.

Our favorite stroller was a back pack/ stroller for infants (over 6 months to abour 18 months.) It was great. However it does not recline (she was able to sleep in it though.)

edwardtc, if there is one thing I have learned is never say never. It comes back to bite you in the butt. :lookaroun . Do you know how much walking is involed at WDW? Not to mention how much safer it is have the young child the stroller in crowds. When you have kids you have more to take with you (food, diapers, wipes, the list goes on and on.) So you hands would be full with that and carring the child. If you wait for the child to be able to walk on his or her own all day they can be 8 years old! Can you go that long with out going to WDW? Could you really leave them behind because they can't walk? I think not.

It doesn't really bother me that much... Until somebody runs over my toe with a stroller :dazzle: ..I think umbrella strollers are great for WDW, but some people like to put stuff underneath the stroller so they're not stuck carrying it all day

I have to say on my last trip in may...when i was leaving MK back to the resort, several familes with strollers had them in seats on the bus while others were forced to stand. Very irritating.

Wow, you must have been staying at Pop Century...because we were there May 6-15th and saw that exact thing happen numerous times. I can't tell you how many times my husband stood up so someone else could have his seat (preg. women, adults/wbabies, elderly etc.) only to see a seat or two "occupied" by a stroller/backpack etc. VERY ANNOYING!

Now that our youngest is a bit older we just do the multiday rental. Yes its more expensive than bringing our own, this last trip we spent $43 for rentals. But it was worth it, for her it was more comfy than an umbrella and we didn't have to worry about getting it to the parks/airport etc. This is of course a very personal decision. For several trips we brought the Peg Perego, but the kids were smaller. If your child sits in the stroller they can't get lost from you before or after parades/fireworks etc. we always just sit back, enjoy an ice cream cone and wait for the mob of people to rush out of the parks.
