we are arriving at AKL around 10-10:30pm and want to look at the animals that evening. I understand that they have some sort of night vision goggles, does anyone know about this? Also are there alot of animals, and which is the best area at night. We are staying in a standard room, does anyone know what the view is? I'm guessing parking lot  . i dont care though, I have wanted to stay at AKL for so long.:sohappy:

thanks

AKL at night

We stayed at the AKL in Oct 2004. We were told they bring the animals in (Disney has a very extensive Veterinarian program and instact each animal every day) at night and let them out early in the morning. Animal Kingdom can be 1st class zoo where other zoological gardens follow Disney's examples.

The Arusha (sp) savanah, the big one when you walk from the entrance straight ahead and outside is where the CM's with the night vision binoculars are. I'm not sure the times they are there or if they are there every night. It is also one of the best public places to view the savanah. There are also good viewing areas all around the hotel.

I'm pretty sure the animals are out all night. We were told that they are called back to the barns during the day, when everyone is at the parks, for their checkups and things.

Just got back yesterday... Check the board next to the Bell station inside the front doors of the AKL lobby... I believe Night Viewing takes place from 9 till maybe 11....

And just a reminder. The shear shades on the sliding glass doors to your savanah rooms. Ya, at night if you have the lights on, the rest of the resort can see you parading around in your birthday suit...without night vision binoculars. Arguably the best creature the AKL had to offer on our stay there...

For real dug... I couldn't make this one up. On the same note, a gentleman also decided to let his kid out onto the balconey one morning, but he negleted to put anything on. We claimed that to be an Elephant sighting on the Savanah...only much smaller.

Lots of undies and sleepwear sightings along with Giraffes, Bungos and Zebras.... Truly and adventure...
