My daughter just came back from the doctors and she is 54.4". That's barefoot. We'll be going in august and she loved the pteranadon flyers. She'll likely have grown another inch and be just at the high end (56"), with shoes.

Anyone know how strict they are with the ride? She'll be ball park, but could be just over the limit?

Also, anyone know if my older daughter (well above the height limit) can ride with her as her guest, or does that person need to be an adult?

Thanks

I don't know about your second question, but they're usually pretty militant on the height maximum. You could luck out, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

They are extremely strict on this. It was one of our few disappointments on our recent Uni trip.

I will NEVER understand the height requirements for this... it absolutely terrifies me to see such little kids up so high with little restraint!

What restraints do they have? I've never been able to ride; but have always wanted to because it looks like the best kiddie ride I've ever seen.
They seem to move at a fair pace, it's high up in a small carriage and it sways a lot. Plus I would imagine it gives you a great view of the surrounding area.

A lap seat belt and a locked enclosed seat. It looks a lot "Freer" than what it really is. It's no worse than the swings at DCA (but a lot more thrilling!)

The ride is thrilling, even for an adult, however, adults may only ride with children.

The height is 36" to 56" for children, and adults may not ride it without an accompanying child who is at least 36". Children between 36" and 56" must ride with an adult.

It's a really weird height limit...only one like that at any park that I know of. I've seen kiddie rides blocked from adults, but never anything quite like that policy...

I never understood this. They built this neat Pterodactyl ride over JP which, of course, everyone would want to ride. It's just awesome. In the beginning, there was no height restriction. Long lines ensued. It was obviously a big draw, but probably had poor capacity? So out of nowhere, they institute this height requirement/must have a child rule. They've had 16 years to figure this out and let everyone ride. Just build another Pterodactyl track, or two. We want to ride! I mean, they built that crappy McBean PeopleMover thing, but they can't open this up to everyone? This is actually cool.

Well the High in the Sky Suess Trolley Train Ride has the inverse issue, a height requirement that makes it inaccessible to many young children.

This ride has AWfUL capacity. That's one reason they are so strict with the height policy. I've ridden it twice, but both times were long ago before the park was packed like it is today.

It's a fun ride. Such a shame it's not built to handle more. I know most people see it and want to ride it.
