Proposal in 2008

OK here goes.

First some background. I was married for 20 years and was divorced in 2006. I have one daughter and while she was growing up we went to Disneyworld 8 times. She is now 21. We were a huge Disney family and even did a Disney Christmas tree every year, the living room in the house had a Disney motif. So the divorce was rough and I was not a big fan of getting married again....EVER. But why would I be posting if that was true .

I met my girlfriend about 3 months after my ex moved out. Next week will be our 1 year anniversary together. I am 41 and she is 31, so we are far from kids. She has no children and has never been married.

I have prepaid tickets for Disney, Universal, and Seaworld, so we are planning on a vacation in December of 2008. We will go for the first 2 weeks. We will be driving from New Hampshire ( I am a wimp, afraid to fly; plus I like the stress relief time).

We have not decided where to stay yet and am willing to take suggestions (money is a concern).

She is not as big a Disney fan as I am but she does like all the movies and has been there twice, last time about 11 years ago.

I am planning on proposing at Cinderella's Royal Table with the glass slipper and all that.

Any other idea?

I will keep you all updated :sohappy::sohappy:

1 - If you propose like that it is guaranteed she will become a Disney fan.

2 - You don't need any other ideas. See item #1.

Good Job! :sohappy:

I'm pretty sure I saw a post elsewhere from you about the glass slipper thing being discontinued. Have you had any other ideas? I proposed justr after wishes finished. we waited around a bit for the crowds to thin out so it was pretty quiet. Very nice.

I've seen people just drop to their knees as they walk through the castle and there are others who do it in one of the restaurants (using a diver with a "marry me" sign at coral reef is my fav idea!).

Let us know what you go with and how it works out!

I've heard a few negatives regarding this resort, but I found Coronado to be thrifty and romantic. We had a casita room facing the lake AND Tower of Terror- we were able to see bits of Fantasmic on the nights we crashed early. Plus, the main pool was empty later on, but the Mayan Temple theme was alive and well, and made a great place to be alone and enjoy life for awhile. Another huge plus is that Coronado is more of a conference hotel as opposed to Pop or the All Stars, which are family value resorts. This means there's less of a chance of someone's screaming toddler running naked past your window (YES, it has happened to me before at POP lol).

Good luck! It sounds wonderful!

My cousin proposed during Wishes last August (2006). We were watching Wishes from the Plaza Rose Garden and when Julie Andrews speaks for the second time, something like "remember, wishes do come true...." he leaned over to his now wife (wedding was in October) and said "you know what my wish is, for Bre to be my wife" she turned to look at him, he dropped to one knee and popped the question. She collapsed into his arms in tears and just as the finale was exploding around them, he turned to us and said "she said yes." I still get goose bumps when I tell the story. Good luck.

Ok, I have my first update.

Made the reservations, we decided on POFQ. We will be leaving 11/28 (the day after Thanksgiving) and be there till 12/12. I want to arrange the proposal in the first few days so that the whole trip will be spent as "engaged".

I may be a bit of a planner but I just bought the ring last week so I am ready to go. Now I just have to hold out till then. :hammer:

Sounds like you are ready to go! I can't believe you already bought the ring though!!! Do you think you are going to be able to hold on to it until the end of the year?

Well, I hope all works out as planned. I can only hope that one day my dream will come true just as your future wife's is about to!

Have a magically trip and remember to keep us up to date..

Cinderella's Wishing Well is one of the most beautiful places in the park! It was my dream to get engaged there - but it didn't happen that way =)

You have a gorgeous view of the castle! You could take her there to "make a wish" and as she throws a coin in the well and looks up, you could be kneeling with a ring!

On a side note, if you tell a Disney photopass person ahead of time that you will be proposing, they can subtly appear and take a photo of you kneeling as you propose. A friend of mine had it done and the photo is priceless. It's in a frame in their living room :)

I don't know if he called the park first, or just told someone when they got there - but I know they helped him out with it. Good Luck!

I emailed the "Gift of a Lifetime" people to see what they recommend. My back up plan is either the engagement package at CRT or the preshow of Beauty and the Beast.
