Proposal Ideas

I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend in January and would like to get a bunch of outside thoughts on possible great ways to do this at Disney. To give some background information, our first date ever was at Artist Point, and two of "our Things" are macaroons and caramel apples. Some notable locations for us are the seas and then the area directly in front of The Land at epcot

My initial thought is this:
Tell her we are going to Hoop Dee Doo Reveue which would require us to go to Wilderness lodge in order to go to the campground and then get to Hoop Dee Doo and hopefully have the cast memebr tell us something is wrong with our reservation but they can get us a table at Artist Point, then hopefully find a way to have the staff at artist point bring out a caramel apple decorated and macaroons and then have the ring inside a macaroon jewelry box.

Thoughts? Any other great ideas at Disney?

Since the caramel on the apples are soft, you can have them, or you, write "Will you marry me?" ahead of time or something!

You can do this with a toothpick!

Congrats are in order, though!

Sounds like you have it all sorted out? :)

I'd skip the failed reservation bit though. Complicated and risks getting her in a bad mood. It just spells trouble.

You can always contact guest services and see if they can't help you with something. Many proposal videos have the CMs in on it.

Future congratulations!! Just a note that you will be able to see reservations on My Disney Experience, so whatever you plan, just know that you are risking her knowing if there is a reservation or not.

Coming from someone who was recently proposed to, it will be perfect no matter what way you ask!

I understand the failed reservation idea, you want it to seem like just a regular night so she isn't thinking something is up.. maybe instead just frame it as a.. "Hey we haven't been to Artist Point in a while and I saw they had an opening so I got us a reservation!"..
that way your proposal doesn't seem as pending, and Artist Point seems to be more of a last minute thing than an elaborate planned out evening?! Just an idea..

I also think a healthy relationship is built in telling the truth, so I may like saying things like that that insinuate something else without lying..

Go with what YOU feel.
I agree with skipping the failed reservation, though.

I proposed to my wife at the Castle at MK.(21 years ago)
Got down on one knee.
People around us gasping and making comments.
Only problem was my wife was staring up at the castle!
She was like, " Wow, look at all the birds up there!"
Then finally " Hey, what are you doing on the ground?"

Skip the Castle, It's over done . Pick one of the places that is special to your lady.

This is a lot but what about a diver in the seas holding a ring. That sounds kind of complicated but It would make my heart melt.

Just a quick note. Artists point and hoop dee doo are at completely different resorts. Hoop Dee doo is at fort wilderness and artists point is at wilderness lodge. So I think the restaurant switch ruse wouldn't work that well.
Also, congrats! I can't imagine a bad place at Disney to get engaged. Have fun!

Have a photographer on hand to capture the moment if possible. The pictures will mean the world to her.

Agreed - no "failed" reservations.

I surprised my friends with a date night while we were at WDW in September, and they didn't see the plans ahead of time. When you book through MDE, don't have your fiancée's name on the reservation - leave it as "Guest 2" or whatever it defaults to. This way you'll have the reservation, but she won't be able to see it.

I proposed to my wife at the Rose Garden in MK with the photopass photog on hand. I took some advice from here (there's actually a forum dedicated to proposals here) and did it first thing in the morning just after rope drop. That made the whole rest of the day a celebration. I even had the Just Engaged buttons in my pocket.

After spending a half day at MK we took the monorail to EPCOT, had dinner at San Angel and saw the Candlelight Processional. (Booked the package months in advance.

It was a wonderful weekend "staycation" for us since we stayed two nights on property even though we live close by.

Still sad to see the Rose Garden gone, but the photos we have from that day are wonderful.

What about in front of the fountain at the France Pavilion? You could sneak away and get macaroons and slip the ring in the box. Or whatever you'd like haha, a proposal at disney is a great one no matter what you do!

the area directly in front of The Land at epcot...
Although your plans seems pretty good, like everyone is saying...forget the failed reservations, instead maybe just say the called you and told you, then head over to Artists point. But along with this quoted line(above in red), Isn't the TRUE CENTER OF WDW in front of The Land? (I'm sure someone will chime in here) That being the case, that is the center of Walt Disney World...what better place to propose to the person that will be the center of your world!? But please make sure a photopass photographer is set in place before hand to capture the moment as it unfolds. That should really create some magical memories. And I don't know what your budget is for the wedding, but check out Disney Florist or Disney Wedding for some ideas of a possible ceremony and the costs!
