Professional Pics

We normally have our daughter's picture taken for Christmas at a local photo place, get the 10x13 package, have it framed etc etc.
This year we'll be in Disney World at the beginning of December and thought it would be great to have their picture taken down there.
Does anyone know if there's a place to have your picture taken in that type of setting? Or is it "limited" to character shots, the guys that catch you as you walk in the park, and the "put your face on a magazine" places?
I take a pretty good picture and might be able to put something together with a castle background or something, but with people walking around and other things it could prove difficult and then I'd have to have the roll developed down there to be sure I got a good shot.
hmm....as long as we're discussing this.....is it really expensive to have film developed in WDW?

Alright, enough questions....
Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge, there are no photo studios in Disney, nor are there professional photographers on hand to take shots. There are people walking around who LOOK like professional photographers with big cameras, but I've never seen a good picture come from any of them.

Although for one or two pictures it would be way to expensive, Disney uses professional photographers for wedding, etc. so I know they could hook you up with a source if you asked and didnt mind the $$.

Although I love everything Disney as you must know everything is $$ higher in the parks. If you have a car ride down to the shopping center just down the road from Downtown Disney and get them done at one of the stores there.

Sorry I cant remember the name of the shopping center.(Maybe Crossroads?) but I'm sure someone local will know and post it.

I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can get pictures taken at a location in Downtown Disney. I remember a couple of years ago, I had pictures taken of my son with Mickey in a private room. It was in the shop where they do the custom embroidery. I don't know if it's still there or if they decorate the area for the holidays. I would imagine they do. I'd say call guest services and ask them.

As for your own pictures, I'm sure you could get a couple of shots off with the castle in the background without that many people in the picture. Enjoy your vacation!!

Only 17 more days til I'm Home!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

They do have photographers for hire. I've read about it, but we never have the time... You can contact Disney Photography at 407-827-1578.

I will tell you that my very favorite picture of all time is one taken at the Christmas Party in 2003. Its the four of us (me, DH, DS & DD) with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Just a shot we were lucky enough to get while walking down the street. Used it for our Christmas cards that year.

If you want a nice picture with Santa, go to Downtown Disney.

Here's some specific info I found just now at dis, posted by littleblackraincloud...
Disney does do family portraits at the parks. I had a session with them back in 2003. We met the photographer when the park opened in front of the castle. He took pictures of us in front of the castle, and around the park. He speant 1.5 hours with us, and we got around 40 pics. They also picked out 8 of the best shots and put them in a nice portfolio with the WDW emblem on the front. You do get a 4x6 'proof' of each shot, but there is nothing on the pictures designating this, so you can just use them as your pics. The price was $298.00 for this. We have a honeymoon portrait session booked for this December! Go to their website at http://www.collages.net/disneyweddings
Make the user name blank, and type in 1971 for the password. You then have to enter in your email, but then you are on their sample website. They have samples posted for weddings, bridal session, family portraits, and honeymoons. You can call Disney Photography at 407-827-1578 or Disney Event Group at 330-755-2335.

Wow that's interesting. I don't think I even like any of the photos I saw on that site though. They look like regular old snapshots to me. Something that ANYONE could take.

There are some nuks and crannies around MK that are decorated really nice, the one that comes to mind is right outside the xmas shop in Liberty Square where they have a sled with poinsetta's etc. around it and the xmas shoppe is the backdrop.

Also, if I am not mistaken, disney does not develop film anymore on property.

That is what they call "professional" shots? Man. They're awful! Terrible lightning in at least half of them (either dark or flashed out) and horrible framing of the shots. Jeez. $300? I take significantly better shots with my point-and-shoot digital camera.

I don't know how Professional you are looking for but at the MK last time I was there we stopped at a Photo Pass guy and he took GREAT photos of us in front of the castle, and he took like 20! It was a lot of fun. I had one printed there (you can order at home too) and they are pretty nice. Maybe something like that would work.

yes i do remember seeing somewhere in your room where you can go to downtown disney to the photo store at the marketplace have your pictures done there. i don't know if they still have them. well remember you have photopass there. you can have as many pictures you want taken there.in all the places that they take them. then when you get home you can see which one you like. you can add different borders on them. them order them too.

Thanks everyone.
I didn't log onto that site $300 is too steep even if they were the best pictures ever, and from what I'm reading, they're not quite that.
We've had the shots taken as we walk in the park before...some come out good, others not so good...so I guess we'll see where that path takes us...if they come out good, we're all set. If not we'll look into something in DD.
I can't wait, we're getting so close.

shoppingnut mentioned that they might not develop film on property anymore, can anyone confirm that?

And if anyone wants to offer spots for great shots, I'd appreciciate the tips.

Thanks again.

I have to agree. I posted the info then looked at the pics. I wouldn't pay that much for that quality either!

I suppose if the picture quality was there that'd be a really neat experience. But then again I don't see me shelling out 300 bucks for it no matter how good the shots.

I found this information on www.allears.net when I did a search for film developing:

1. Anita Answer!
digital photos to a CD has replaced traditional film developing at Walt Disney World. Film developing will no longer be offered to guests on site. Currently, you can download digital

We try to get the kids pictures taken at Old Town Fair in Kissimee. They do Civil War, Roaring 20s and one other. They are taken in sepia tone and they look amazing. This year we are going to use the pics for Christmas cards as well
