Ernie Els says he plans to be there, and it is a fall event that Tiger Woods has never missed since he turned pro. "It" is the Funai Classic at Walt Disney World Resort, a PGA TOUR event that annually attracts a field of the top pro golfers in the world. Buoyed by new sponsorship -- the Japanese electronics company Funai -- this year's Classic (Oct. 23-26) will feature the largest purse in the event's 33-year history: $4 million ... with $720,000 going to the winner. Bob Burns won in 2002, joining a roster of champions that includes Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, David Duval, Ray Floyd, Payne Stewart, Mark O'Meara and Larry Nelson.
Can anyone tell me about getting tickets to this? Is anyone planning on going? Has anyone been to this in years past?
I know, I know... why would anyone want to walk around watching other people play golf when they could be enjoying the Disney magic? I think it might be fun for a few hours... seeing Tiger Woods in person, etc.
