Anyone else heard they were making a Princess Diaries sequal. Has anyone heard if it's started filming or if it's just a rumour. Hopefully, if true, it will be as good as the first one. That is one movie that I can generally say, was up to Disney standard. There wasn't any hidden inuendo, no cursing, and was appealing to the whole family. We need more feel good films like this one!

I heard something about it a while ago. I read all the books first, and I have to say that the books were 10X better. Her dad is alive, and her mom gets pregnant and the dad is her algebra teacher, it's great! I like the book so much better!

i would love it if they came out with a sequel, although i haven't heard a thing about it. my husband and i both were thrilled to find a quality family film that we could watch with our nieces and nephews without worrying about inappropriate content... i just hope disney will continue this practice.

I heard that rumour also (don't recall where I heard it though), it would be great if they did do the sequel. I know my daughter would be very happy, that is her absolute favourite movie and she's read the books as well.:sohappy:

well... a bit over a year ago there was a bit in the Hollywood Reporter that stated something about a sequel being worked on:

Disney giving royal treatment to 'Princess Diaries' sequel
Aug. 15, 2001

What does a girl do for a second act after she goes from geeky bohemian teen to beautiful young princess? The Walt Disney Co. hopes to find out. It's putting a sequel to its hit family comedy "The Princess Diaries" into the works, with "Princess" scribe Gina Wendkos working on the new script. Disney production president Nina Jacobson said a sequel was being discussed even before the current film's impressive $23 million opening this month. The studio has an option on Anne Hathaway to reprise her role as the teen princess. As for the rest of the cast and director Garry Marshall, "It would be my dream" to come up with a strong project to reunite the entire "Princess" team, Jacobson said.

Everything else beyond that is hazy at best... no other news or buzz since last August. Even the Hollywood Stock Exchange doesn't have this sequel listed, and that site has movies just being tossed around as ideas listed... so I think Disney is still awaiting some sort of script before giving it the definite greenlight.

Hey everyone,

Guess what? Disney is actually making a sequal and its being filmed as we speak. If you go to miceage.com and look at Al's latest column you will see a photo of the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot production schedule. One of the listings say Princess Diaries 2 on stage ?? (I can't remember what stage it said). But I just thought y'all might like to know that.

I always thought it was weird when studios use rival backlots for filming, but oh well, at least they are making it. It should be out next year.
