Prince Eric and Ariel missing in Fantasmic?

Hi guys. We went to WDW this past weekend for a quick little trip and went to watch Fantasmic Saturday night. Prince Eric & Ariel were missing. Are they doing some work on the boat they ride out on? It was totally weird listening to the part of the song where they are supposed to be doing there piece and nothing was happening. They were on the big boat that comes out at the end with all of the characters on it though.

On another note....During the Pocahontas scene where John Smith swings around one side of the front of the mountain to the next and grabs on to climb to the top...He almost missed and smashed into the side. I felt so bad for him because it looked like it hurt really badly. All in all it was still a great show.

it could be one of many things, but to be blunt, is unable to work and they can't find a replacement, they will just not use that performer. It happens in all parades and shows in WDW, with the worse case being shows with considerable prerecorded audio... in which 1 missing performer can cause the show to be cancelled until they can get another one in

I think that was the show I saw as well. 7? I was on the far right side, so it was hard to see exactly what he was doing, but it did look like he struggled a little with the landing. Also noticed the gap when the Little Mermaid music played, and no Little Mermaid.

Kwit35...It was the 7 o'clock show. The part where Ariel & Eric was missing was just weird. I really did feel bad for John Smith. Out of all the times I've seen this show, it's the first time I think I've ever seen someone mess up their part. I know it happens probably alot more than we think but I really felt bad for him because the way he slipped it looked like it hurt. But of course he couldn't stop, he had to finish his part.

By the way, and please forgive my ignorance, but what is the deal with the blanket?

The woman playing Arial obviously can’t move around all that well so during the pyrotechnics at the end all of the other characters clear off the boat and someone throws a blanket over Arial. You can only see it if you are on the far left of the stadium. My wife and I could not stop laughing the first time we saw it.I’m sure that someone here has a picture.

Yeah. The "blanket" weighs a LOT. Onbe of the backstage cast drapes it over Ariel before Steamboat Willie pulls out. She has to signal one of the show managers to indicate that she's good to go or they won't light the steamboat pyro. As soon as the pyro has been lit she drops it around the base of her "rock". Trivia fact for you. Anyone who is on the mountain when Steamboat starts moving is stuck until show finish. (From Dragon Maleficent on)That central walkway is the only way on or off the mountain.

Funny that they had problems that night. The last time I watched Fantasmic, I sat in the rain for an hour and a half before the show and we thought they would cancel it because the set was wet. The announcement came on saying that it might be cancelled, but they went on with the show! We thought some of the climbing and swinging might be cut because of it being so wet, but everything went just as planned - perfectly! I was glad, because it took my mind off of how soaked I was!
