Price increases from 2015 to 2016

Hiya:

I'm planning a trip to WDW in Sept./Oct. of next year with myself, my brother and his three kids, my mom and her man. We're thinking about POR Riverside and getting two rooms. I've been keeping an eye on prices & promotions since April, and noticed a (roughly) 20% price increase from 2015 to 2016, on the full rate of the room. FWIW I was budgeting for a 3-5% increase. Is a 20% increase normal? I'm just wondering as it get closer to next year if the prices typically go down?

I'm planning on booking in early December so I've got time, I'm just curious is all.

Thanks for your time!

But the biggest shocker of all comes when you contrast the daily rates for the traditionally lower-priced months of September and October. For example at Port Orleans Riverside, the premium categories such as Pool View, Preferred Location and River View have risen by as much as 27% in 2016! A River View room would have cost you $236 per night for October 2015, whereas in October 2016 the exact same room will cost $299 — a massive 26.7% increase. Given that this is (no doubt completely coincidentally) the same period that the Disney Dining Plan is offered for free, it does rather confirm the old truism that “There Ain’t No Such Thing as a Free Lunch”.

Thank you for that link, yes apparently there is no such thing as a free lunch although honestly from what I've been reading is seems the "Free Dining" might be going the way of the dinosaurs, maybe? What really sucks is I'm supposed to be the one paying for the room and tickets lol, my brother is in charge of food. Well, we'll see I guess, I was just on the Disney website and checking to see if the prices went down since June.

I also noticed other resorts going up like the AoA, which is something like 22% or so? Don't quote me on that but it's definitely NOT the 3-5% I was expecting.

I was getting excited for this trip until now, since I got plenty of time I might look at staying off-site but, since this might be the last time I go to WDW I really wanted the on-site benefits and experience.

On our next trip, hopefully there is a bounce back offer in the room. That should put the price around the same as this year. Won't be going at all if there is no pin code or bounce back. The room price really isn't the issue, since we usually stay at a value anyway, but I have issues with the ticket prices. Free dining means nothing, as it is never really FREE. (Will be looking for that bounceback offer in October, hopefully for next year sometime) :D
