Preferred carry method in the parks?

Let me start off by saying that I'm quite a backpack fiend. I have several, each one for it's own purpose. I love the idea of them. But the more time I spend in the parks, the more time I realize they're not the ideal way to carry things, atleast for me. See, I don't carry much. A water bottle, an external battery to charge my phone. Maybe a jacket. And I like to have a little space to carry something I might buy while in the parks. But backpacks are rather large. Taking them off is a pain for when you're getting into a ride. Just try stuffing a full sized backpack under the seat in Star tours. It's impossible. Getting things out of them requires you to stop. Take it off. etc.. So the next logical choice for me had got to be a messenger bag. Even though it makes you think go this-

But I mean come on, it does make sense. Has anyone had experience with using one of these in the parks? What's your preferred method?

I use a Maxipedition Versipack. It's a sling bag that doesn't look like a purse.....
Holds rain gear, a water bottle, and other accessories. They have several different sizes and layouts to fit your needs.

My husband used to haul a backpack- lots of wasted space, but if he was willing, I'd load him down! Finally, I suggested a cinch sack and it worked great. We took pretty much what you listed and there's plenty of room. It fit in every junk holder on the rides, too. I put my battery charger in a zip bag, just in case it rained and I had my phone hooked up.
