Is there such a thing as prefered parking at WDW?I read a guide book that said that AAA members(and others) have so called parkin perks. Any insight would be great!
There is a Diamond Parking Area in each theme park except Animal Kingdom. There are different rules on how to get a Diamond Lane Pass...
You are supposed to book either a Disney World Vacation or Disney Cruise Line Vacation through your local AAA office. Before your trip, you will receive one Diamond Lane Pass (which is dated yearly) and one pass (per person) to the AAA lounge inside the Magic Kingdom (behind Space Mountain).
I have gotten a Diamond Lane pass when I purchased discount Disney World tickets. You need to ask (or beg) for one.
The other way is to purchase AAA Travelers Checks and ask them (again...or beg) for one.
This is a good perk if you drive to the parks regularly.
The diamond lot at the Magic Kingdom is next to the Handicap Spaces. This is directly behind the Transportation and Ticket Center. Please Note, most of the time; the trams do not stop here. If you plan on spending all day there it sometimes is a pain in the butt to walk back to your car. Especially when your feet hurt and you have several Magic Kingdom bags with you.
The diamond lot at Epcot is in a similar place as the Magic Kingdom. It is located behind the Handicap Spaces. The trams do not stop here either.
There is no specific Diamond lot at MGM. You need to show your pass to the parking attendant and he will put you in the first two spaces in the current row. These spaces are marked reserved.
As noted above, the pass for the Diamond Lot does not say Animal Kingdom. I have shown my pass to them and they park us in a similar place like MGM. Sometimes they tell you we don’t have that here.
The parking attendants are not there late morning and late night. If you show up and there is not attendant, I usually park in one of the reserved spaces.
I hope these details help. Good luck getting a pass!
