Since 2023 was pretty much disappointing, I'm now on the bandwagon for 2024

What are your predictions on what will happen to The Walt Disney Company in 2024? Here are mine:

  • Inside Out 2 becomes the biggest and most profitable Disney animated film at the box office since Frozen 2, but would still fall short of rival Illumination's Despicable Me 4
  • Deadpool 3 will be among one of the top five grossing movies of the year and Disney's biggest movie of 2024 by a long shot(despite the superhero genre(outside of a few titles) showing fatigue and diminishing box office returns this past year)
  • Walt Disney Animation Studios greatly disappointed from Wish's disappointing theatrical run will not have a new movie in November 2024, as they would instead present a re-release of Walt Disney's 1940 masterpiece Fantasia in its place, it would be presented for the very first time in IMAX theaters
  • As of a result of the previous year's flops from the studio and in order to pay off the losses, Disney would pull tax write offs for shows like Amphibia, Elena of Avalor, Fancy Nancy, The Lion Guard, Disney's Doug(which will result in Disney giving back the rights to the character and series to Nickelodeon, making the Disney era episodes non-canon to Doug lore), The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Hamster & Gretel(despite being one of the most watched shows), and the unreleased and long delayed controversial series(solely on the intro alone), Primos(which would never see the light of day), among many others, similar to how Warner Bros infamously pulled the plug on Batgirl, Scoob: Holiday Haunt, Final Space, Mao Mao, Infinity Train, Close Enough, Coyote vs Acme(even though the move on the latter was somewhat reversed), etc. to pay off the debt, this will impact the parks greatly with Elena and Nancy being permanently retired from meet and greets and entertainment
  • Disney would also sell off 90% of the properties that they acquired from the 20th Century acquisition five years ago, as Disney would keep The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers(now produced under the "Disney TV Animation" banner), Don Bluth's Anastasia, and unsurprisingly, the James Cameron Avatar franchise, as the following would be sold off to:
  • The majority of the 20th Century Studios film and TV library handed to Amazon MGM Studios
  • The Searchlight Pictures library to Comcast under the Focus Features banner
  • Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show(as well as Once Upon a Forest, A Troll in Central Park, Thumbelina, and The Pagemaster) to Warner Bros Discovery
  • Blue Sky's library to Annapunia Pictures(where they ironically helped finish the canned Blue Sky movie of Nimona)(with Shout Factory now handling the physical and digital home media rights to the film)
  • The rights to The Peanuts Movie now handed to Peanuts Worldwide(with Shout Factory now handling the physical and digital home media rights to the film, and it would be available on Apple TV Plus alongside the new Peanuts movie for the service(with the same director attached, but not actually a sequel)
  • The final plans for the purposed Beyond Big Thunder Mountain project for Magic Kingdom would be revealed to the public, and would be officially announced to be 100.9% greenlit at the 2024 D23 event, it would be bigger than that first concept as Encanto has now transferred to the Central America proposed land for Animal Kingdom, as alongside Villain Mountain and Coco, there would be Zootopia(as seen in Shanghai), Wish(there's always Disney+ to give this a second chance, as it happened once with Encanto), Raya and the Last Dragon, and the biggest surprise, The Owl House(even if the series concluded, if they can have DuckTales World Showcase Adventure existing even after the 2017 series ended, so can The Boiling Isles and might be Disney's answer to Universal's Wizarding World areas(even if Potter is more popular than Luz), after all they did say that this will be the biggest park expansion in Disney's history
  • Plans begin to re-imagine the Animation Courtyard area at DHS, with a proposal for a Pixar themed section to take over the current backstage and former Feature Animation Florida building, as well as a re-imagined DJR show featuring a new Mickey story-line with Doc McStuffins, Mira, and Eureka joining the fun and the replacement for Star Wars Launch Bay being a simple animation walk-through(like in the past, but not as a studio as that is long gone) with the theater playing Once Upon a Studio, exhibits showing off past and current Disney Animation, and meet & greet spots to meet your favorite animated stars
  • Disney and A24 would collab in a one picture deal announced at the 2024 D23 event as it would be a live action adaption of The Owl House set for July 10th, 2026 in theaters, with early casting announcing Xochitl Gomez as Luz Noceda, Sadie Sink as Amity Blight, Kirsten Durst as Eda(despite rumors of Jamie Lee Curtis taking the part), Michelle Williams as Lilith, Jack Dylan Grazer as Hunter/Golden Guard, Ben Schwartz as the voice of King, and Willem Dafoe as Emperor Belos(despite Mark Hamill showing interest), with Carlos López Estranda(who would resign from his directing duties of the Robin Hood remake) being named director, with The Daniels co-writing the script with John Bailey Owen and Charley Feldman(actual writers from the show), with series creator Dana Terrace helping with the story with Owen and Feldman(despite not willing to work with the company that shortened her series), who would say that, "This will be more like Netflix's live action One Piece series and less like 2010's Last Airbender" and López Estranda describes the movie as "A mix of Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Everything Everywhere All at Once, but with the same charm that made The Owl House a fan favorite series"
  • The Figment movie would be confirmed for an August 14th, 2026 release in theaters, with Wish co-director, Fawn Veerasunthorn making her first live action directorial work and Eric Bauza as the voice of Figment in this hybrid feature
