Pre-planning (off-site and handicap questions)

I'm in the very early planning stages, so these are very vague but a couple things I'm hoping y'all can help with.
1) I can't walk far, so will be using my wheelchair, is there plenty of handicap spots available? How about mid-day?
2) I don't deal well with heat and expect to have to go back to the hotel during afternoon to cool off. Will I spend more time driving to a close off-site hotel or taking the transportation to one of the value resorts? Thinking pop if we stay on site.
3) Are the magic bands worth paying for if staying off-site? Between bands and parking, I'm wondering if we'd really save much

Thanx,
Justin

Pretty sure that WDW has an abundance of handicap parking spots. RE mid afternoon trips, it really depends. Figure a 20-40 minute wait/bus trip each way. But that may only end up being 5-10 minutes more than driving to an off property hotel, and end up being less at say MK where you need to take the monorail/ferry to the parking lot. And the worth of Magic Bands, the only reason you really need them is for the auto tagging of pictures on rides. And you can claim those manually at the Photopass Desk if needed. But if you are going to have a car regardless, then you would still need to pay to park at your resort, so not that much savings by not having to pay to park at the theme parks.
