PotC Boats?

Back when I was last in WDW (2000) I believe the PotC boats each held just a few people (probably 4 or so). I just noticed from some photos that they're now big boats that hold about 20 people!

Did they make this change when they added the Johnny Depp stuff? That's a pretty big change, because I always like when they have the little boats, cars, etc. on rides because you can joke around with your family/friends in a little privacy.

I think the boats have always had a larger capacity. I don't recall them ever being four or six seaters.

The bots for POTC were never that small. They have always held around 16-20 people.

I have been going on POTC since 1992 and the boats have been the same size so I don't think they were ever small enough to hold just 4 people.

You might be thinking a separate boats away from WDW and DL, such as the Flooded Mine at Silver Dollar City ( Not that you've ever been there, its just an example) It holds only maybe 7 or 8.... But the boats have a fairly large capacity, 20 as everyone else's saying.

I think you may be mistaken.

4 people per row perhaps, but not 4 people per boat.

Maybe when we went it was very low crowds and they put each group in their own boat? I just have to memory of other people being in the same boat with us, and I remember watching the boat ahead of us going down the drop and laughing at their (slight) screams. The other possibility is that we always sat in front, so weren't really aware of the people behind us.

Splash has 4 rows, 2 per row, Space Mountain has 4 person capacity at one time, now I think they are six but I am not sure. I also believe Matterhorn is 4 people, And maybe DL Splash has 4 person capacity.

Consulting my Green Disney collectible book which is 80's vintage, 5 rows, 4 seats per row, except the back row which was smaller. Each boat was a different color just like Small World back then.

Space and Matterhorn both started with the same type of cars they could hold 8 if each seat had 2 people but most if the time people perfected to ride one per car bringing it down to 4. They changed the cars at both parks to fit 6 in individual seats.

Splash in was never 4 either it was at least 6 in one traditional single row log. They have since added individual seat backs and bumped out the back so an adult and child can ride side by side.
