Post-Surgery Dietary Restrictions: Please help!

My family is going to Disney World at the end of this month, and it's the first time my whole family has been together for years. However, I recently had an emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder, meaning that eating or drinking anything with very much fat in it can make me very sick for hours. Not dangerously sick, just very, very unpleasantly.
Normally trips to Disney are always breaks from my diet, but this time I need to take it very seriously.

I'm a big fan of savory snacks, pretzels and the such, and fruity sweets are my favorite things. I'm trying to go through menus and figuring out what I can eat, but I figured I'd ask here if you have any favorites or suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

The first thing that comes to mind is Dole Whip, the milk free version -- a Disney staple.

Anyone else have more interesting favorites?

If you’re still relatively post surgery then more frequent, smaller, blander foods are probably your best bet. Unfortunately how things will actually work out longer term (hopefully not post-cholecystectomy syndrome) may just be a matter of trial and error. Anti-diarrhea medicine like Pepto-Bismol can also help.

Are you doing sit down dining, I think there is an email you can contact for special dietary requests ahead of time. Any QS or TS location you can ask to speak to a chef for options as well :)

As someone who has had my gall bladder removed, I probably don't need to tell you to make sure you know where all the bathrooms are and maybe you can take some OTC preventative meds (although I never did). Definitely stick to more bland foods (sorry!) and eat smaller meals. Rest assured, it does eventually get better, but for me it took about a year!

The online MDE (I guess it is Genie now) that shows all the wait times and such also has a page that shows the locations of all the restrooms. The last trip my mother was able to go with us (at that time age 89) we had every restroom location the in the park memorized by the end of the trip. 😀

I still have my gallbladder but it's not fully functioning. So far, diet changes and the addition of daily apple cider vinegar are helping to control the pain and side effects. My 2019 WDW trip was in the beginning of my new extreme low fat diet AND gluten free diet and it was a very hard adjustment. But Disney made it easier. Thankfully, now I can have slightly more fat in my diet only a couple days a week. I would definitely suggest looking at all of the Disney menus where you plan on eating to see how easy substitutions would be or what kind of sauces are used (I had to stay away from anything with fatty cheeses and cream and had to get low fat salad dressings on the side). I would avoid places with family style meals bc it might be harder to do substitutions. If it's also a meal portion issue, try looking into more of the lounges in the parks and resorts. I had much luck with the Hollywood Brown Derby lounge in HS with the smaller portion of their famous Cobb salad. And the Nomad Lounge in AK had very good gluten free and low fat options when I was there. And Columbia Harbor House, Satuli Canteen, and Pecos Bill also had really good options.
