Possibly buying more points

Ok I think I know the answer but thought I would ask the experts on here. We currently own 150 pts at BCV. Our use month is March. If we buy another 150 points at another resort and it has a different use month. Are the points combined. I know I will have 2 home resorts.

But lets say I am 11 months out and want to book at BCV. Lets say the total stay pont wise would be 300 points. So I use my 150 pts from the BCV, and then can I use if the use month is past or borrow if not passes from the new resorts points to equal my 300 points needed. Or do I need to borrow from next years BCV points.

What I am looking ta doing possibly is buying points at a lesser resort say vero beach where I can save $20-$30 bucks per point. Instead of buying another 150 at BCV.

I hope my question makes sense, its makes sense in my head but not sure if I am typing it out right.

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, you can only use as many points at the 11-month window as you have at that resort.

That is why we added on at our home resort rather than change it up.

Unless you are buying enough at a second resort to do an entire stay there. We only added on 50 points, so it wouldn't have been worth having a second home resort for us.

You can only use your Vero Beach points at the 11-month window to book VB.

Also, don't forget that while VB points may cost less than BCV points, VB has the highest annual maintenance fees of all the DVC resorts so it may actually be cheaper in the long run to own BCV.

One thing you can do is buy the same number of points at another resort (but one you want to go to) and then each year bank your points at one and use the others points...

As in, this year you bank your BCV and go to Vero Beach using your VB points. Next year you have two years of BCV points to book at the 11 month window, and you bank your VB points. The following year you use your two years of VB points at VB and bank your BCV points....and so on...

Bear in mind if you use your BCV points to book BCV at the 11 month mark and then book more days at BCV using your VB points at the 7 month mark, these will be two seperate reservations and you may have to switch rooms...

I guess if you love BCV, get more points there....if you want variety, buy points elsewhere, but really only if you are looking at getting enough points to have a real vacation at that resort (this is all advice given to me by my DVC sales associate...I am actually a new member; just booked my first trip yesterday...)
