Possible Mummy technology?

I thought I read somewhere about the Mummy ride using a new type of display technology. Here's an article that may be what all of the fuss is about.

Imagine what Disney could do with this!

I always thought the weakest part of Fantasmic was during the video displayed on the large sprays of water. Many times, due to where I was sitting or wind conditions, the video was hard or impossible to see. This new display technology may (and I stress MAY) vastly improve those video images.

I thought I read that they were planning on using falling sand (appropriately) to project the images on.

Of course, since this ride is indoors, elements like wind can be controlled.

Nope. A lot of people have been confused with this for some reason. The ride will in fact use the technology described in the article. The part that people get confused about is when the train is supposed to go through the mouth of the mummy, which in the movie was made of sand. Basically, it will be images of a mummy made of sand projected on fog/mist and the train will go through it. The screen won't actually be made of sand but it will hopefully look like real sand. Bring on Revenge of the Mummy!
