Possible change of plans, wondering about November 2016....

With the new addition to the family, we may be changing our May 2016 plans(booked at GF Club level) and looking at an October/November 2016 trip and wondering about weather and crowds. Travelers will be(probably, not set in stone) my husband, our 27yr old son and 18yr old son and myself. This may change depending on refinery schedule and the oldest son's re-enlistment but the trip will go on regardless of who goes.

We will be flying in from NorCal and staying for 7 days. I am not sure of discounts offered around that time but stretching out arrival from May to Nov. allows us to pay it off for a longer time but a discount is always welcome. LOL

Any thoughts on that time of year as to what to expect weather-wise, crowd-wise, ride closures(for decorating)etc? Thanks so much!!

i went november 16-22 2014. it was within the free dining period last year. i think i had a pin option for a % off too but went with food.

got to see the christmas decorations already up in the parks. our resort (fort) was all done up by the third day we were there so to see that transition was fun. missed out on most of the epcot christmas entertainment, i think that starts after thanksgiving. hollywood had the lights up which are incredible in person.

weather - surprisingly cold. according to locals we had a tough couple days there and it was not the norm. overall it's a great time though, 70's temps, nights have a nice slight chill where you can wear a hoodie or something and be comfy. we had some bad luck with a couple days where it hit the 50s but that's rare. pack a hat that covers your ears to be safe, or buy something down there.

crowds - seemed about the same as the times we've been in october. pretty manageable although the Christmas parties obviously bring big crowds at night to MK. as others will surely suggest, use the christmas parade as a time to hit the rides when everybody is distracted and then see the late night one instead (if you can stay up)

Thanks! Yeah, parades have just never been our thing even when the kids were little(6yrs and up) but that could be due to them being boys. The only time we have ever bothered with parades in DLR is when we just happened to luck into a spot to watch that we were also able to duck out of quick. With the exception of my husband, we are all night owls. For him, 10p is late(but he is 61 and used to 4:30-5:30a wake up times ugh! LOL).

I think temperature is relative since we are in NorCal, that time of year is cold already but we've done Christmas in DLR a few times and have had rain and 80* temps in the same 5 day stay.

We are looking at 11/12-11/20 to avoid Veteran's Day(even though we are a military family, 28yrs for my husband) and Thanksgiving travel(from CA I just hate flying during any holiday season that is heavy travel). Christmas decor would be a bonus but we also love Halloween so we could shuffle the trip back to late October and split Oct 29-Nov 5/6 too although the MNSSHP is not a priority, we have never done Halloween in the parks at DLR so that would be cool too.

I just found out that my Unofficial guidebook will be here next week(yay! I love research!).
