Possible 2008 Trip to Tokyo - Questions!

Hello everyone! My husband and I are regular WDW guests and are starting to think about possibly going to Tokyo in 2008. We just had a few questions....First - How many days is usually necessary at Disneyland / Disney Sea? This would be a VERY long trip for us (coming from Rhode Island) so we would probably want to stay out there at least 10 days. We would probably stay on-site for the Disney part of our trip - How are the hotels? How far is Disney from other sight-seeing aspects of Tokyo? Is there a lot to do there? What would you recommend besides Disney? ANY info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi!

I'm currently living in Japan (working as an English teacher) and I'm lucky enough to be living just a 45 minute train ride from Disneyland!

Let's see...Well, from my personal experience, and having never been to WDW (Tokyo Disneyland was my first Disneyland experience!) when I went, I spent three days there - the first day at Disneyland, the second at Disneysea, and the 3rd back at Disneyland.

I also spent 2 nights at one of the offical Disney hotels on Tokyo Bay - the Hilton. There are 5 hotels there, but I definatly recommend the Hilton - service was just superior, and the staff there spoke really good English.

There's also the Disney Abmassador Hotel, which is aparantly very 'Mickey Themed' (Mickey shaped Shampoo and Conditioner bottles, towel racks, etc). There's also a 'Chef Mickey' who appears at breakfast! I would have loved to stay here, but it's quite expensive.

Other things to do in Tokyo -

Well, Disneyland is situated on Tokyo Bay, and there's plenty to do there.

Nearby, there's 'Joypolis' - an inexpensive, fun filled three levels of virtual reality rides and attractions.

Shopping wise - the subrbs around Tokyo are fantastic:

Shinjuku: a HUGE shopping district!
Shibuya: Very busy area, full of shopping, especially for fashion. Has a bunch on international shops here too.
Harajuku: Japanese teenager zone! Go here on a Sunday to see Japanese teenagers dolled up in the craziestoutfits
Ginza: Famous shopping and entertainment area. A little on the expensive side though.
Akihabara: Electrical item heaven!I've purchased a laptop computer and a digital camera from here at great prices.

From Tokyo, you can also jump on a bus for 5 hours and go and climb Mt. Fuji. I haven't done this myself as yet, but a few of my friends hanve and they said it's fantastic!

Hope this helps you a little :)
