Hi. We have gone to Disneyworld for 10 years and are thinking about going to Disneyland in CA. next July. I was wondering if anyone has stayed at the Portofino Inn with a walk across to the parks? Is it a nice Hotel or are there better ? Thanks.

Not to sure about this place since I'v never stayed, but the Desert Palms across the street from them is really nice, as goes for Howard Johnson is my personal favorite.

And next summer what a great time to go DL's 55th anniversary and World of Color!!!

We stayed there in 2005. It is nice. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful. They did have apool though we did not use it. There is (or at least there was) an ihop across the street for breakfast. That being said there are better places to stay also. If I had it to do all over again I would have stayed on the Disney property. It may have just been my imagination. I just did not get a good "vibe" when we were walking back in the evening. Dont get me wrong. There were no roaming thugs or anything it was just a vibe.

If I may ask what is the "World of Color"? Sounds exciting.

We stay in the Disney Resorts at WDW and it really is magical. That being said...Ca. is just so expensive and we like to stay our usual 10 days and we have a family of 5..... saving some money on a neighbor hotel would help......I love Disneyworld.....and we really do not know what to expect from Disneyland...and maybe if we really like it, & decide to go back...we could try one of the Disney resorts. Thanks for writing me.

World of Color thread-
it gets better around post 23 and down. but its a water show which seems to be the ground breaking new form of nighttime entertainment at/for DCA.

Also if your walking from Portofino Inn to the DLR, there was once a walk way on Katella to the Timon lot but with Cars Land construction started the lot is now close and the gate closed as well so you would have to walk along Harbor Blvd. which isnt to bad it will just depend on if everyone in your party is up for the walk unless you plan on driving and parking in the parking structure...

I stayed at the Portofino recently- November 2008. I had absolutely no complaints. It's a small-ish hotel, but the rooms are clean, beds are fine, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. And of course it's a short walk up Harbor Boulevard to the Park entrances. I definitely give Portofino my seal of approval.
