Portofino Bay Experts - Tell me what you know

As I'm typing this, seems to me like it'd be a nice and helpful idea if we had stickys on the board for each resort. Mods, could we do that?

OK, so, what can PBH experts tell me? Here's a few questions I have:

1.It seems as though the resort is very large and there are lots of stairs. Is there any place that you can not reach via elevator?

2.Is there a good quick place for breakfast that serves pastries, fruit, etc?

3.Seems like it might be easy to lost around the resort. Is that accurate?

4.I like more of a resort feel than a hotel feel. Which would you call Portofino?

5.How much longer of a walk to the parks is it than from Hard Rock? And for extra credit, if you've stayed at Royal Pacific, how do the walks compare?

6.How does their main pool compare with the other onsite pools?

Please feel free to share any other info (and pictures) you can on the resort.

Thanks!!!!

1.It seems as though the resort is very large and there are lots of stairs. Is there any place that you can not reach via elevator? The entire resort is ADA accessible, and all levels can be reached via elevator.

2.Is there a good quick place for breakfast that serves pastries, fruit, etc? On the bottom floor (the level with bay) there is a quick service location that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an awesome Gellato shop connected to it.

3.Seems like it might be easy to lost around the resort. Is that accurate? Initially it will seem bewildering, as there are numerous wings, and the hallways seem like they go on "forever" after a few moments of studying the layout of the hotel, you will notice it is pretty intuitive.

4.I like more of a resort feel than a hotel feel. Which would you call Portofino? It feels like a resort. It feels tucked away, and even far from the Universal parks, even though it is a short walk, or a quick boat ride away.

5.How much longer of a walk to the parks is it than from Hard Rock? And for extra credit, if you've stayed at Royal Pacific, how do the walks compare? Royal Pacific has the longest "feeling" walk. Portifino's walk is longer though, but much prettier and scenic, since you walk past some of the hidden HardRock gardens, and some other hidden gems at the resort.

6.How does their main pool compare with the other onsite pools?
Pool Rankings-
Fun Factor:
HardRock
Royal Pacific
Portifino

Relaxation Factor:
Portifino
Royal Pacific
HardRock

it just depends on what you are looking for. I hope this helps!

I don't know, but I doubt it.

2.Is there a good quick place for breakfast that serves pastries, fruit, etc?

Yes, a pp mentioned it. It has my favorite muffin on the planet.

3.Seems like it might be easy to lost around the resort. Is that accurate?

I never felt lost at all. I think it is set up very well, actually. But I've done a lot of stays in a lot of hotels.

4.I like more of a resort feel than a hotel feel. Which would you call Portofino?

Don't know. You'll have to explain the feelings. :)

5.How much longer of a walk to the parks is it than from Hard Rock? And for extra credit, if you've stayed at Royal Pacific, how do the walks compare?

It would be a longer walk than RPH. I never walked, though, and don't know.

6.How does their main pool compare with the other onsite pools?

Very nice. And the bestest part is that there is a small quiet pool. NO KIDS ALLOWED. It's like heaven. Tough, with kids, you might not want to take advantage of it, I love it.

They have servi-bars in the rooms and some snacks are not even locked up (at least last time I was there. If you don't want to pay $1000 for chocolate chip cookies, amie sure you tell the kids NOT to eat that stuff!

Te bathrooms have real hair dryers, not those low-power, stuck-on-the-wall things. So if your wife generally packs one, she need not. The bathrooms are not small, either. :)

It's a very pretty, calm place. Very romantic at night. Better service than Disney even pretends to have, too. And your cat can order room service. I never did that, but always like seeing it on the menu!

I think you'll like it!!

I think others have pretty much answered your questions, but I have a go on a few! I found it easy to find my way around, the only thing you have to get used to is when using the elevator in the lobby you have to go to ground level to reach the outside wings. The walk to the parks is lovely and relaxing and takes around 10 mins, the HR is closer to the parks and I'd say takes 5 mins, but the walk is a pleasure to do.

we both adore the Portofino!
