Have a reservation for Friday night of W&D half marathon weekend, but have never eaten there before. Looking for any input from anyone that's been there recently (service, ambience, food)..thanks!

I have not eaten there recently, last time was in 2004. But I would never go back. Service was terrible, (though it was middle of summer so large crowds), food was nothing special. However, we did see three cockroaches walking across the carpet and some sort of large beetle (4-5 cm long) that landed on my wife and some other guests. When we complained to the management they told us that downtown disney was "built on a swamp" and that "bugs come with it". No offer to make things right. We just paid our check and left. I'm pretty sure they are under a different ownership now though.

Went last year and loved it. Had great service, enjoyed the food, and thought that the variety was nice since we have picky kids. Would be going again next year if we had more time, just ran out of restaurants.

Just went last weekend. HORRIBLE service. The food was alright...nothing special. The bad service is what stands out unfortunately. We watched the waitress wait on other tables next to us while she visited us once. Never got refills on drinks other than my husband who specifically asked. We had to ask for dessert menus (we were on dining plan). She took two people in our party's orders then walked away without the rest. I don't foresee myself rushing back.

Personal opinion....

It WAS very good - several years ago. They then suffered the typical DDP degradation.
A better choice - consider Il Mulino at the SWAN. No DDP, they DO take TIW. And they are stunning :).

it always was on them ore expensive side-as are most 3rd party owned restaurants on Disney property. I am not opposed to paying for quality food and service or a special experience if it is what I will receive. The food and service used to be in the fine dining range.

However we used to go every year and now it's not even on the radar anymore. The food, for what it has become, is way overpriced. I would expect a place with a wood fire oven to serve chicken on pasta that was actually cooked in the wood fire oven. Not pre-cooked bland chicken that would be used in other dishes. Service was slow and our server seemed rushed when he did appear. It wasn't comforting or pleasant. No one else's food was memorable or anything to write home about.

Honestly with all of the other restaurants moving into Disney Springs, I can't see it lasting much longer. it may survive by default, but there are so many better places imho.

Went to Port last year. Service was phenomenal, the atmosphere was great, and the food was fantastic.

Should have left your original reservation in place, IMO.

Calling anyplace in DS a dump is just plain ignorant. Some peoole may feel that some places are better than others, but it's all just subjective opinion. There's literally no restaurant there that can be objectively classified as a dump though.

Get a life, boy. It's all subjective. FF was horrible each time I ate there. Is what it is. I'm sure your wife doesn't make the perfect Bic Mac very shift she works. It's okay.

It's ignorant to say that someone else can't call a place a dump. Before I started my professional career I worked in the restaurant industry and Port by almost every category fails. I liked to give every place at least two chances. I went to this place two differents times over a year apart and both times the service was horrendous. The food was not edible. Management was rude and clueless and showed that they didn't care about the customer. You could see employees just standing there in the kitchen not doing anything while people were waiting to be sat, to be waited on and to have their food delivered to their table. So yes that is my definition of a "dump".

It's also ignorant to not understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and whether a restaurant is good or bad is subjective. I've been to Port as well and the place was clean and lively, the staff was friendly and the service was great, and the food was fantastic. I don't need to have worked in the restaurant business to know that the place isn't a dump.
