We are now looking at staying at the Riverside. We prefer the Magnolia Bend Mansion area over the Bayou area. How do you put in a request for the Magnolia Bend, and how hard is it to get the area that you request? We are planning for the First week of Feb if that makes a difference.

You will make the request when you book your room. As long as you have a party of 4 or less it should not be an issue. If you have a party of 5 in a single room your only option will be Alligator Bayou.

One exception to that is if you have any children under 3. When we stayed at Riverside a few years back, there was 5 of us but our twins were only 6 months old. We requested Alligator Bayou but got Magnolia Bend.

Have it noted on your reservation that you would like Magnolia Bend. If you keep your requests simple like "I would like to be in Magnolia Bend", then Disney does their best to honour it. Also by simply saying you would like to be Magnolia Bend, that gives the room assignment team 4 mansion buildings to play with in order to find a room for you. Whereas if you said you want X room, in X building in X mansion, they are far less likely to be able to honour your request.

Keep your request simple, just request Magnolia Bend, and Disney should be able to honour it.

You have to call central reservations. The hotel doesn't get your reservation until about 2 days before you check in. If you book your trip online, then call central reservations shortly after you finish booking and have them add it then.
